Following Number 1 hits ‘ Louder’ and ‘Hot Right Now’ featuring the solo chart-topping Rita Ora, as well as Top 10 hit ‘The Power’ with Dizzee Rascal, DJ Fresh is back with his brand-new track ‘The Feeling‘ featuring hotly-tipped RaVaughn, released on 23rd September on Ministry of Sound!
Shot on location in Tokyo by director, Ivan Ogilvie, the video to ‘The Feeling‘, puts a spotlight on the burgeoning Japanese custom scooter subculture called ‘space invaders’. Following local bikers around the city, the video reveals a dizzying array of custom scooters, from futuristic stretch versions to brightly coloured modified machines.
Ogilvie says; “‘The Feeling’ is about being out there doing what you enjoy with your friends, so I wanted to capture real people on these amazing, futuristic bikes cruising Tokyo’s neon streets. The video follows on from other works I’ve done looking into graffiti and other youth cultures in the UK. It’s all about style and I think there’s something really genuine and interesting about that.”

Masterpiece mixed by Andrew Weatherall

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on April 12, 2012 by E.N.

Andrew Weatherall is to electronic music what James Brown is to soul. The master of reinvention, the humble godfather and a true leader of our time, this quintessential gentlemen cares so little about following he is light years ahead of the pack. Now he digs deep to share his influences from across the ages for the special Masterpiece series, spanning three discs of inspirational treasures.

Following the likes of Gilles Peterson and Francois K, Masterpiece brings you legends from the world of music. Who else could join the dots between styles so vast a resume as acid house, rockabilly, electronica, techno, post punk, deep house and countless unclassifiable rare cuts than the man who has been collecting records for over three decades with no regard for their origin or trends.

A campaign started by his army of fans to crown him the new John Peeland award him his own BBC Radio show had the media in a spin to support it. That’s because Weatherall is a maverick, never a people pleaser he has made many an unpopular choice during his thirty plus year career, but he stands by them and for that he has been crowned the ultimate music selector and king of the dancefloor.

His colourful past is an entangled mess of flirtations with the underground and the elite. Early involvement at London’s first acid house club Shoom, remixing rock stars such as Bjork, Friendly Fires, My Bloody Valentine, Happy Mondays, and not to forget the illustrious production of Primal Scream’s landmark early 90s album ‘Screamadelica’ has been offset with regular experimental triumphs as Two Lone Swordsman, Sabres of Paradise and others as Weatherall humbly shies away from the limelight and is beckoned into the sub-terrain to develop the dark sounds he has become known and respected for.

Predictably it’s impossible to classify the material Weatherall has picked for Masterpiece. From The Horrors to Kasper BjorkeTornado Wallace to Cut Copy, and Todd Terje to Toddla T, each disc showcases his unique ability to veer between styles and never quite be noticed. Heavily peppered with his own edits and remixes, it’s an honest representation of his imaginative and unpredictable take on a sound that spans generations.

Opening aptly with A Love From Outer Space’, an ode to the heart of this project, the name is also the title of his eclectic all night party alongside Sean Johnston that started in 2010 and became a cult night now found at festivals and clubs worldwide. The aim was to slow things down and never knowingly exceed 122bpm, working through spaced out treats, proto-house, industrial, rare dubs and and slo-mo beats.

The result is seductive and addictive, a must-have for train-spotters and a door opener for the newly converted. But most of all finally marks down the vision of one of the greatest musical innovators of our time.

At the end of 2011, Ayah supported Example on his UK tour, was the only unsigned act to appear on the main stage at UKF’s Alexandra Palace event, toured with Camo & Krooked across Europe, and was declared Woman of the Year by Xfm’s Eddy Temple Morris. ??

PNAU – Unite Us (Video +Download Kris Menace Remix )

Since the formation of PNAU Nick Littlemore and Peter Mayes have grown to become one of Australia’s most loved electronic acts. Having already released three critically acclaimed albums over in Australia it is with great excitement that PNAU announce the release of their new single “Unite Us” for Ministry of Sound on 5th February 2012.

Taken from their forthcoming album “Soft Universe,” set for release early next year, this supercharged anthem stands as the perfect introduction to the big, ambitious and elevating sound that has come to characterize PNAU. “Unite Us” is a supremely effervescent track. It surges with colour and positive energy bearing allusion to the musical output of Littlemore’s highly acclaimed side project Empire of the Sun. His impressive role as composer for the Cirque du Soleil in Paris, (he is the youngest musician ever to have filled the position) can also be felt in the track’s expansive sound.

This is a true performance piece in pop disguise. Energetic vocals relay the anthemic lyric “Unite Us, baby I can feel a change, don’t we all feel the same?” upon a euphoric arrangement of plush synths riffs, pulsating rhythmic passages and bass lines, all of which indicate PNAU’s intent to bring their listeners uplifting music that defies club interiors.

The single is backed with six eclectic remixes from Kris Menace, Tommy Trash, Wideboys, Douster and Savage Skulls, Raffertie and Wookie. Whilst each of these stand alone as uniquely engaging together they sweep the spectrum of electronic sub genre cementing “Unite Us,” as one of next year’s key early dance floor fillers!
