Kruse & Nuernberg release their debut artist album through Lazy Days Recordingsin October.  ‘Let’s Call It A Day’ sees the Hamburg based pair – who have previously released on labels such as Noir Music, Liebe*Detail and their own Save Room Recordings – step outside their boundaries to present an eclectic journey through their musical influences, including Indie luminariesLittle Dragon, Metronomy and Pheonix. Live pianos and guitars meet their electronic world with finesse through 11 songs, moving through genres and tempos seamlessly in what Lazy Days’ boss Fred Everything has called “a classic dance album in the making”.

The album features singer Stee Downes, who collaborated on last year’s #1 ‘Want You In My Soul’ from Lovebirds, Nathalie Claude, who featured on Andre Lodemann’s ‘Searching’ and Japanese singer Miwaki. They also co-produced a piece with Florian Kruse’s brother, and deep house legend, Vincenzo (Dessous, Poker Flat).

Kruse & Nuernberg have been on the forefront of the revival of the Deep House scene in the past few years.  As remixers, they have put their magic touch to artists like Dennis Ferrer and Groove Armada as well as being remixed by legendary producers such as Tom Middleton and DJ Sneak. They are also part of the successful outfit ‘Wiretappeur’, who released on John Digweed’s Bedrock label.

The links between Kruse & Nuernberg and Fred Everything stretch back several years with each being a fan of the other’s work.  Their first release on Lazy Days came in May 2010 and they have now recorded three EPs for the label, including a recent collaboration with Fred.

M A N I K, named DJ Mag’s ‘Hot To Watch 2011’ provides a trademark head nodding remix and French producer Boris Horel goes warm and blissful with grainy undertones.

Ruthit aka Carl Handley was born the North East of England but now resides in Manchester.  He learnt his DJ craft in Ibiza hosting intimate parties before attracting the attention of the Zoo Project who offered him a residency back in 2008. Appearances on a range of top house labels and collaborations with Carlos Sanchez & DJ Ray (8bit/Supernature), Kabuto & Kojo (Supernature/Get Physical/Area Remote), Dualton (Viva/Bedrock) and a remix for Darren Emerson’s artist album alongside X-Press 2 are establishing Ruthit as one to watch.

New Yorker M A N I K is one of the hottest names in deep and tech house right now, incorporating a wide range of style in his music stretching from disco and funk to acid and electronica.  His discography is a ‘who’s who’ of leading labels including Hot Creations, Culprit, Ovum (for whom he has released an album), Poker Flat, Dark Energy and Fresh Meat.

Originally from Royan in France, Boris Horel now calls London his home and has become a well known player on the city’s music scene with residencies at ‘Foreign Muck’ (at the Key Club) and ‘Lets’ (at T Bar).  His music can be found on labels such as Adult Only (a collaboration with Dyed Soundorom), Supernature (a remix of Audiofly and original tracks remixed by Dan Ghenacia and Bearweasel), Time Has Changed and Eklo.

Turquoise Blue operates from near to Newcastle upon Tyne and has been founded by Neil Harker.  The label is inspired by underground house stalwarts like Freak ‘n’ Chic, Crosstown Rebels and Leftroom, and more recently Supplement Facts, Culprit , Visionquest and Hot Creations – labels who have managed to grow while maintaining an underground spirit.  The label’s debut release featured Tom Ellis, Kris Wadsworth, Arttu and Nick Turner, while artists coming soon on Turquoise Blue include Laura Jones, Alex Arnout, Djebali and Basic Soul Unit.

airpod #8 : M A N I K

airpod #8 introduces a breakthrough talent from air london’s North American roster. In little less than a year, M A N I K has established his reputation outside of his home town of New York with an excellent slate of releases on, amongst others, Four:Twenty, Poker Flat, Culprit and with his main affiliation Ovum with whom he releases his second EP in late 2010.

With a current diary already including some of the best parties and clubs in the US (Culprit Sessions in LA; Space Miami and NYC’s Resolute), M A N I K has made his mark this year as a DJ and his debut album on Ovum in spring 2011 will surely propel him as a touring artist well beyond North American shores.

Recorded live at his ‘I’m Nice Like That Studios’ in Queens, this is
M A N I K.
