‘At The End’ contains 15 tracks which are definitely electronic and deep but also very intimate and organic. The album’s blue print was made during a recent trip through Europe that took Pat from London and Berlin to Biarritz, San Sebastian and more exotic places like Ibiza and Tarifa. The songs on the album are inspired by the places visited during Pat’s journey. A few soundscapes recorded on-site invite you to join him on his trip, from a walk in a park in Berlin to the bustling marketplace in Tarifa.

It’s also the first time Pat worked closely together with Miss Ann-P and Henri Kohn in the creation of the 3 vocal songs ‘Equinox’, ‘Funk Me’ and ‘Vagabonds’.

Robinn - Multiphonia (Compost Recordings)

Gilles Peterson – “Compost are the most consistent and forward thinking record label of continental Europe”

With an output of quality music that spans 15 years, Compost records are past masters in showcasing fine Electronic music. With a roster that includes artists like; Robert Owens, Motor City Drum Ensemble, Jazzanova, and classic releases, such as “Future Sounds Of Jazz”, Michael Reinboth’s imprint is a highly respected Electronic outlet. Look elsewhere and you see accreditations from electronic mags, like; Mixmag, De:Bug, Groove Mag all doffing their cap to Compost’s releases.

Multiphonia is the debut album from Compost’s new signing Robinn, AKA Tom Le French. Warm synths, off kilter jazz percussion and touching melodies escort the listener through the album. Adding to the audio delight is Nathaniel Pearn, also known as Natural Self from Brighton label Tru Thoughts, who provides thoughtfully felt and timed vocals.

Tracks like “Hall Of Mirrors” have a timeless quality. Never predictable and always thought provoking, tracks like this do not come around often. Descending basslines, subtle keys and layered vocals make for a delightful treat to the ears. Meanwhile, “Hawaiian Wedding” creates an interesting change in the LPs direction, with moody overtones and more aggressive drum stabs, but all the while maintaining the sleek and slick demeanour that we see throughout the album. The album rounds off the listener’s journey with ‘False’ an epic dubbed out nu- jazz/House workout, a must for both living room listening and Room 1 club grooving.

Temporary Hero - BalletTemporary Hero – the self-proclaimed love child of Thom Yorke + Madonna after a weekend of Depeche Mode – joins the Sidetrak Records ranks with his haunting and wide-ranging electronic single‘Ballet’.  A stunningly intoxicating and emotional remix by André Lodemann looks to be an Ibiza classic in the making with support already received from Robert Owens, Mousse T, Giom and Jon Cutler.  People Get Real add a growling bass and choppy piano to their tech-tinged remix, while Blackhill take things in a groovy, bumping and funky house direction.

Temporary Hero has collaborated with the likes of Mac Quayle (remixer of New Order, Depeche Mode and Donna Summer), Jerome Isma-Ae, Andre Lodemann, The Slips, Chus + Ceballos, James Teej, Andrew Galea, Pete Gooding and Jeremy Sylvester.  His previous releases on the Object Permanence imprint include ‘Youth’, ‘Hate Sux’, ‘Savin’ up 2 Be a Rock + Roll Star’ and ‘Blasphemy’.  Nothing is deliberate. But it is all temporary.

Joss Moog Late Nite BeatsJoss Moog releases his debut album ‘Late Nite Beats’ on 14th June through Phil Weeks’ Robsoul Recordings. The Parisian has impressed with his releases on Robsoul since 2006, beginning with the much sought-after Room 25 EP, and has subsequently built up a discography including music for Magnetic, Maracuja, Kinjo, Exprezoo, Minority and Synchrophone.

Late Nite Beats showcases Moog’s skill at blending live instrumentation with soul-filled samples and beats from the vintage house boxes — it’s deep and musical, intricately crafted, but with more than enough bite to bump the dance floor, as tracks like Late Nite Beat, Mama Hold My Hand and Call Me testify. Moog’s love of funk and soul are in heavy evidence, with numerous departures from House on the tracks including Childhood Fancy, Last Chapter and Sweet Mary.  And there’s a clear French touch, with Which Flavour, That Woman and Second Chance delivering late 90’s styled filtered grooves that Daft Punk et al would be proud of.

A recently released four-track album sampler drew DJ support from a varied group of established players and current hot names — Rolando, Danny Howells, Kraak & Smaak, Radio 1’s Mosca, Gramophonedzie, Giom, Noir, Rolando, Moodymanc, Jimpster, Robert Owens, Diesel (X-Press 2), Mousse T, Ramon Tapia and Reboot just the tip of the iceberg.

Robert Owens & Tone Control – Starting With Me (inc James Johnston remix)

Tone Control return with house music vocal legend, Robert Owens for a steppin’, bass led mantra for the dance floor. Tone Control bring in soulful house star, Sean McCabe on Moog, Rhodes and Organ to complete “Starting With Me”. Working the analogue delays, “Stuck On Loop” is a dark and serious dubbed out excursion. Glaswegian producer, James Johnston has been making big waves for vinyl loving, deep house heads recently – he turns in a heavy chorded, bumpin’ dub remix to complete this new single, the 12th release on Tone Control Music.

Tone Control are Marcus Harris and Simon Finnegan. The British production duo have been progressively releasing their own brand of electronic soul for over 6 years appealing to house music and leftfield DJ’s alike. Following the release of their critically acclaimed “Illusion” single, much lauded by Theo Parrish and Kerri Chandler, the duo have gone on to find wider appeal with their smash “Take Me Away” ft. Adeola Ranson and “Without Your Love” ft. James B. Coleman – remixed by DJ Spinna and played by DJs globally including ‘Lil Louis and Kenny Dope.

Robert Owens has played an instrumental part in defining House Music history. Robert was already DJing in Chicago when he met Larry Heard to form Fingers Inc. with Ron Wilson in 1985. Their output included “Bring Down the Walls”, and the monumental “Can You Feel It”. Robert’s subsequent solo releases, led to the classic “Tears” with Frankie Knuckles & Satoshi Tomiie in 1989. Worldwide chart success followed in the 90’s with “I’ll Be Your Friend”. Robert was cited as “The voice of house music” by Mixmag. Since then Robert has worked with an incredible list of influential artists including Photek, London Elektricity, Sandy Rivera, Coldcut, Quentin Harris, and recently Tevo Howard and Kai Alce to name a few. His recent LP’s for Compost Records demonstrate his continued inspiration and artistic longevity, maintaining his reputation as the man who breathed life and soul into House Music.

What is Micro Mega?
It’s the idea that everything from the microscopic scale to the infinitely large, is designed from a similar pattern. A fractalist vision of what surrounds us, a way of seeing variety and chaos as part of One. A peaceful & unitive idea all in all…

While the common pattern through Strip Steve‘s debut album is clearly his own sense of rhythm & melody, his distinctive rich, sweet & mellow backbone, we discover in his first full length a whole new variety of styles and colors that might have stayed unsuspected from him so far, letting us deeper into the corners of his creative mind.

Bright & dark, fast & slow, the french boy (relocated in Berlin) touches a bit of everything, strikes different cords within us. If we feel the sound is purposely left untamed (MICRO, SKATE CONTROL, DON’T KNOW WHEN) Strip Steve always has a way of making electronic music sound open to everyone and listenable any time of the day and night.

He teams up with the lucid and wild eyed dream-pop duo Puro Instinct (from L.A.), young protégées of living legend Ariel Pink, on ASTRAL PROJECTION (first formal single of the album), to create a flirty and emotional dark disco track. What seems to be a simple and very fresh formula according to all people who heard it.

While STOMP & RADIOCHECK showcase a style we’ve been already familiar with in Strip Steve’s previous releases, SKATE CONTROL takes it up a notch, being simply made from a needle jumping randomly on a record over a TR-707 beat. The result is raw, complex & incredibly funky.

On ONE THING he goes back to the old school basics of Chicago House (a passion he always communicated in his various dj sets) and features one of his heroes, the man with the voice of silk, Robert Owens. Creating a stripped down & hypnotic dancefloor number that will leave no feet still.

MONEY TROUBLE FUNK & ALL THE TIME slow down the tempo takes us a train ride under the sun of JAMifornia, MUSIC FOR THE RINGTONE GENERATION, the moog infused classical ballad has nothing to envy from the best songs of Wendy Carlos, and MEGA, the final act of the play (and maybe the best one of the lot) is an unclassifiable ternary loop slowly sinking into a wave of melodic synth layers. Get the picture? Just listen to it and it will all make sense.

Micro Mega is not a concept album in the strict sense of the term, nor a simple compilation of unrelated tracks, it’s the debut album of an artist who’s eager to invite people to go through a journey. One of different flavours, sights, & emotions.

It is the reflection of our modern generation who grew up incorporating a very wide variety of references (from experimental to pop) & styles (from funk to rock) all equally.

So UNITE and DANCE with all the tiny cells of your body, from MICRO to MEGA.
