WAKE UP 2011 with EUREKA
on MARCH 15th

Last Gang Records is ecstatic to announce the worldwide release of EUREKA – the third studio album of Canada’s most harmonic pop quintet MOTHER MOTHER on March 15, 2011. EUREKA offers up an evolved Mother Mother, complete with 12 new hook laden pop-meets-rock songs complete with their signature cleverly crafted lyrics and intricate harmonies. The album, produced by MM’s own Ryan Guldemond and mixed by Mike Fraser (AC/DC, Franz Ferdinand, Elvis Costello), was recorded in Vancouver this past year.

Since their 2008 sophomore release, O MY HEART, Mother Mother have been relentlessly touring all over the continent and abroad. They graced the stage with such artists as Weezer, Pearl Jam, Tokyo Police Club, Sam Roberts and Matthew Good and have performed on a diverse array of festival stages including SXSW, CMJ, The Great Escape, Liverpool Sound City, Pop Montreal, Rifflandia Music Festival, both the Vancouver and Montreal International Jazz Festivals, and the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games concert series LiveCity. This past summer the band jumped across the pond, hooking the hearts of music fans and critics. Their UK Single for “O My Heart” capturing Record Of The Week on BBC Radio 2’s Radcliffe & Maconie Show, subsequently garnering much support from Radio 2 and Radio 6 in the UK as well as inclusion in Q Magazine’s Q50 for July 2010.

With the release of EUREKA, Mother Mother is poised to reach ground breaking heights and milestones. From their quirky, experimental debut, TOUCH UP, they perked the ears of many and marked the band as one to watch. Codebreaker Announce Silver Lining EP+free download single

Available November 23 On Disco Demolition Records Featuring Remixes From Joe Smooth & The Outrunners; Drop’s First Single Online For Free HERE
“champions of gushy keys and vocoder hooks” – RCRD LBL

“flourishes and stretches of acid squelch and maintains a bouncing, clubby vibe that might make Daft Punk blush” – XLR8R

Disco Demolition is please to announce the latest incarnation of Codebreaker, The Silver Lining EP, due out on November 23. The three-song EP features the title track as well as remixes by The Outrunners and classic house music legend, Joe Smooth. The result is a unique new sound that’s a bridge between indie disco, house/dance & even boogie/funk worlds. Silver Lining will be the lead track to Codebreaker’s upcoming The Space Chase full-length due out early 2011. Our buds over at Culture of Me got their hands on “Silver Lining” and its available for free download here.

To anyone paying attention to the underground dance music world the last 2 years, Steven Hawley and Sage Schwarm (AKA Codebreaker) are a familiar name. Anthemic, electric and criminally infectious, Codebreaker blends a distinct and irresistible mix of the timeless, warm sound of funk with exciting modern extrapolations on disco, italo, electro, house and more.

Their last 12″ single, “Follow Me” quickly caught the attention of world-class tastemakers including The Juan MacLean (DFA/NYC), Bottin (Italians Do It Better/Venice), and The Outrunners (Valerie/FR), all of who gave the single remix treatments. A brief time before that came the critically acclaimed double 12″ single, “Fire” featuring UK disco diva Kathy Diamond, which elicited praise from the likes of The Washington Post and Pitchfork.

Codebreaker proves more & more that its uncontainable mix is anything but ordinary. By meticulously deconstructing what they “love about the music we love,” Hawley and Schwarm create a sound that is equal parts light and dark by balancing the clean, cool sophistication of electro with the playful passion of disco, while always throwing a little funky swagger into everything they do.

Diamond Rings Announces 7″ EP; Drops Track Online-Gentleman Who Fell (Milla Jovovich Cover)

Available September 28th On Secret City Records;
Drops B-Side Online;

In Anticipation of Debut Full-Length “Special Affections” Due October 25th

“Completely irresistible” – Pitchfork
“…the best thing we’ve heard all year” – NME

Secret City Records is pleased to announce a new limited edition 7-inch by Diamond Rings, which features Something Else, the next single off of the forthcoming Special Affections due October 25th.  The 7-inch vinyl is limited to 500 retail copies and will be available on September 28th.
Yesterday Stereogum premiered the B-side from the new 7-inch, a cover of Milla Jovovich’s The Gentleman Who Fell that also features Owen Pallett composing the string and piano arrangements. You can listen below. We’re certain all the buzz around this track will help send Milla’s latest Resident Evil film straight to number one at the box office when it premieres this week. Those interested in getting their hands on the latest Diamond Rings wax can get their pre-order in with Secret City Records here.
This announcement comes off the heels of Diamond Rings’ Tunnel Vision documentary. The 10-minute piece features an exclusive interview with John O’ as we’ll as some live clips from his performance at Brooklyn’s Monster Island previously this year. Check it out here and get a preview of tracks such as “You & Me”,  “Something Else” and “All Yr Songs”.
First conceived in the summer of 2009 by Toronto-based multi-platform artist John O, Diamond Rings burst onto the scene with a series of singles and videos featuring green screen camera trickery, over the top choreography, and daring androgynous outfits and makeup. The videos received international praise from both the online media and fans alike.  The singles, pressed to limited edition vinyl, sold out in a matter of weeks and received critical praise including “Best New Music” honors from Pitchfork.
Although initially pegged in some corners as a novelty act, audiences soon began to identify with Diamond Rings’ uniquely lyrical brand of pop songwriting and his overtly glamorous live sets.  Showcasing real human emotion and honest vulnerability is rare enough for a 24-year-old let alone one who matches his eye shadow with his Air Force
Ones while dancing about onstage with the reckless abandon of a teenager in the bathroom mirror. But there’s something surprisingly mature shimmering beneath the glamor, hidden in John O’s immediately iconic voice, and whip-smart lyrics.
Diamond Rings – Gentleman Who Fell (Milla Jovovich Cover)

Now Diamond Rings is finally settling down long enough to deliver a fully realized album, the much anticipated “Special Affections”.  In keeping with his predilection for confounding public expectation the album dabbles in a wide range of styles and soundscapes.  Spacey slow jams give way to aggressive guitar rock that leads seamlessly into shuddering club beats and soaring synth lines.  Tying everything together are the heartfelt lyrical sentiments of a young artist interested in far more than getting his audience to “just dance.”
