Roses Gabor – “Stars” (Official Video)

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , on October 15, 2012 by E.N.

This is the slick debut single from Roses Gabor on Toddla T’s label, Girls Music. Roses has already had releases on Digital Soundboy and Young Turks through her collaborations with some of the most respected producers going… Buraka Som Sistema, Shy FX, SBTRKT, Gorillaz and Redlight. ‘Stars’ is a song for clubs and night bus journeys alike- both contemplative and energetic. The atmospheric and emotive intro gives way to a rumbling bassline and off kilter drum programming. Roses voice is a perfect fit for the warm synths and moody beats which she shakes up with her feisty chopped up vocals.
B-side ‘Night Sky’ shows off a more downtempo and RnB sound that brings to mind Cassie or Aaliyah on a London flex. Its’s a sultry statement of intent: ‘we don’t play around, doing what we got to’. From jungle inspired tracks with Shy FX to a brilliant collaboration with renowned masked producer SBTRKT- (their track ‘Pharaohs’ was a standout track on his debut album) Gabor’s textured soulful voice dances across genres and is making the music world stand up and take note. Inspired by hip hop legends and Bjork alike, her vocal expression and personality go hand in hand to make Roses a beautful and talented singer to watch- both ‘Stars’ and ‘Night Sky’ justify her growing reputation as a star in her own right.

Youngman Official Video ‘Who Knows?’ (Skream-produced single)

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , on December 22, 2011 by E.N.

Youngman announces release of hotly anticipated new single ‘Who Knows?’ on January 29th 2012.
London singer with close connections to Magnetic Man will release single on Shy FX’s Digital Soundboy label.
‘’The future of pop’’– Annie Mac, Radio 1
“He’s next in line” – Zane Lowe, Radio 1
Youngman, one of the UK’s most exciting and vibrant young vocal talents, has today announced the release of his eagerly awaited new single ‘Who Knows?’ on Shy FX’s Digital Soundboy label.
Mixing Youngman’s powering and distinctive vocal with the pulsating sonic workings of long time friend and collaborator Skream (Magnetic Man), ’Who Knows?’ blurs the lines between underground club smash and credible mainstream hit, having already been named Zane Lowe’s ‘Next Hype’, MistaJam’s ‘Jam Hot’ and Annie Mac’s ‘Record Of The Week’.
With a career that is still in its infancy, Youngman (Simon Smith) has already made his mark as a standout vocalist in the drum’n’bass, and dubstep scenes, working closely with his father Simon ‘Bassline’ Smith plus Breakage and regular live collaborator Benga. He is indeed already a seasoned live performer having graced the stages of Glastonbury, Creamfields, Exit, Lovebox, Global Gathering and across Europe, Australia & North America.
Having become the choice hype man for Skream & Benga, Youngman became a master of working an audience, with his presence as a performer and his inimitable singing voice coming to the fore; it wasn’t long before Skream & Benga turned their attentions to channelling Youngman’s talents into a unique and fresh vocal sound.
‘Who Knows’ is the second offering from Youngman and comes in the wake of his debut street single ‘Tear It Out’/’I Warned Ya’ getting massive support in clubs and radio, with the likes of Radio 1, 1Xtra and Rinse FM all throwing their weight behind the track. With an album in the making titled ‘Me & My Music’, set for release next year the producer credits read like a who’s who of British music, with the likes of Benga, Skream, Shy FX, Breakage, MJ Cole, Sam Frank and Kutz all contributing.
Whilst working away in the studo, Simon has also found time to extended his creative and entrepreneurial skills by designing his own successful clothing range and spearheading a new education scheme ‘Music & Life Workshops’ back in his home town Derby.
With a full schedule of live dates throughout November, December and January with Benga and  Skream, as well as nationwide solo PA performances including 1Xtra Live on 30th Nov, Youngman is primed to cement himself as the next breakthrough underground star.

Tricky – Time To Dance Remixes (preview)

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on June 11, 2011 by E.N.

Tricky is to release Time To Dance (RUG417D), from his most recent album Mixed Race, as a digital single on Monday the 18th of July 2011. The single will feature remixes from Maya Jane Coles, Doorly and FiFi Rong.
Mixed Race was released last September to great critical acclaim. Tricky has since completed tours of the UK, Australia, Europe and South America with many sold out shows. Tricky will be headlining Blissfields Festival in Winchester on July 2nd before heading into the studio with some interesting electronic artists – full details to follow!

The Time To Dance remixes have already been picking up support from a broad spectrum of dance music’s elite including Ramon Tapia, Plump DJs, John Selway, Groove Armada, Sister Bliss, Kruse & Nuernberg, Mighty Mouse, Hector Romero and Nick Warren. Here is further information on the remixers themselves:

With covers of Mixmag and DJ Mag Weekly already under her belt, and a Radio 1 Essential Mix landing in July, 23-yr old Maya Jane Coles is the rising producer/DJ on everyone’s lips. Support for her productions are as wide ranging as Skream to Scuba on the dubstep side through to Jamie Jones and Laurent Garnier on the house front. As a remixer in her own right Maya has remixed artists from MSTRKRFT through to Todd Terry and as one half of dub-electronica duo She is Danger, her credits include Massive Attack, Delphic and Gorillaz.

The second mix on the package comes from blogger’s favourite, Doorly. The Ibiza Rocks resident has been making just as many waves from Sydney to London as he has in the Balearics – most recently on a 30-date arena tour of North America supporting Rusko. Famed for his ‘Pigeon Hole This’ label and attitude; Doorly’s remix credits list to many to mention but include Prodigy, Groove Armada, Dizzee Rascal, Basement Jaxx and Sia with the likes of Fake Blood, Tiga, Shy FX and Soulwax supporting them at club.

And finally, the third remix comes from FiFi Rong. Signed to Tricky’s Brown Punk label, FiFi Rong is one of London’s freshest talents producing from Dubstep through to UK Funky.
