HOT CASANDRA2013 has been a busy year for London based duo Hot Casandra. Fresh off the back of performances at Pacha, Proud Camden and Café 1001 and with sets at Ministry of Sound, the duo have been spinning their Smooth Electro sounds at top clubs around the London circuit.

Originally hailing from Romania, Hot Casandra are by no means strangers to the limelight. In Romania they enjoyed high profile, with regular appearances on MTV, National Television and Eastern European festivals. Meanwhile on the press front they have seen reviews in FHM, The Guardian and Tillate. But 2013 sees the duo move to the UK as they introduce their brand of Electro the UK crowd.

‘Getaway Heart’ is the new single from the duo. A slow burn Electro groove that works it’s way towards climax. With Paul Ballo on live drums and bass and Elena providing haunting female vocals, the track draws inspiration from acts like Simian Mobile Disco and classic Italo-Disco. The track bubbles on increasingly draws the listener in as it builds in emotion and tension.

Next up on the package is ‘Mouthwatering’. An emotive Electro trip, with 80s Electro influences and great male and female vocals, answering each other as the track rolls on. Synth stabs prevail, alongside driving live drums and thoughtful melodies. Not to be missed!

Little Boots Sophomore Studio Album Nocturnes
Out May 7 via On Repeat Records

Little Boots
Little Boots aka Victoria Hesketh became one of the most talked about new popstars around when she arrived with her Gold-selling debut Hands in 2009. Now the dance-pop songstress is preparing to release her highly-anticipated sophomore studio album,Nocturnes, May 6thon her new On Repeat Records imprint . The album was produced by DFA Records co-founder Tim Goldsworthy, with other key contributions from Simian Mobile Disco’s James Ford and Hercules and Love Affair’s Andy Butler.Nocturnes is a powerful record of irresistible hooks and stunning songwriting that celebrates 90s house, seventies disco and futuristic electronics while maintaining the magic of classic pop.

Motorway”, is a symphony of bittersweet brilliance, starting with Victoria singing over a simple percussive rhythm that quickly evolves into a variety of noir narratives, chilly melodies and thundering late-night congas. Echoing layered vocals burst through a pulsing bass line on the soaring “Satellites” (co-written with Ariel Reichstadt).“Broken Record” is a pounding club track set against some of her most hypnotic hook lines yet. “Crescendo” is a theatrically infectious summer-ready anthem, while the old school house rhythms and giddy choruses of “Confusion,” penned in the Hollywood hills with Jeppe Laursen (the man behind Gaga’s ‘Born This Way’), is simply Boots at her effortless sing-a-long best.

Check out the “Motorway”

DJing all over the world at many of clubland’s most esteemed nights over the past few years and collaborating with an elite roll-call of dance music’s most credible class, Victoria named the record Nocturnes because it is “an album indebted to the night.” A collection of perfect pop melodies set against faultless beats and synths, it is true long-player, and a sonic experience from beginning to end. Stay tuned for more exciting news + tour plans from Little Boots coming soon!

Simian Mobile Disco to Release Live Album April 15th on Delicacies

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , on January 28, 2013 by dk

Simian Mobile Disco to Release Live Album April 15th on DelicaciesThis spring, Simian Mobile Disco will release their first live album since the duo’s conception in 2005.  Live is a flawless mix of SMD releases, past and present, with some brilliant reworkings of some of their most infamous tracks. ‘Cruel Intentions’, ‘Hustler’ and ‘The Beat’, for instance, all feature with a more fevered and fervent strut, showcasing the duo’s effortless way with an infectious beat and a knack for destroying any dancefloor they’re put in charge of. The end result is an exhilarating blend of precise electronics, danceable rhythms and joyous aptitude.

James Ford and Jas Shaw, aka Simian Mobile Disco, have always had an envious ability to transform their sound while firmly staying at the forefront of contemporary music. Their earliest explorations were in an inimitable strain of indie dance that resulted in the now infamous ‘Attack Decay Sustain Release’. With their ever-evolving sound, they went onto release ‘Temporary Pleasure’ that featured a plethora of vocals from the likes of Alexis Taylor, Beth Ditto and Jamie Liddell. Most recently, they have released techno 12” compilation, ‘Delicacies,’ and last year’s critical praised ‘Unpatterns,’ described by XLR8R as SMD’s “magnum opus” making it to number 2 on XLR8R’s end of year album chart. This has seen the duo produce an altogether deeper club friendly sound – a psychedelic-tinged strain of electronic music which still sounds so singularly and utterly them.

This diverse musical excursion has led us to ‘Live’, an album recorded whilst on tour last year, during a performance in Philadelphia in one take, with no edits. With a background of feverish techno rhythms and bounce as well as some vintage analogue electronics, ‘Live’ perfectly displays the brilliance of SMD and is being released on their own Delicacies label. Fittingly, this is their first record distributed through the seminal German electronic label Kompakt.

In addition, this February Simian Mobile Disco will begin a five-date tour of Europe to warm up for summer festivals worldwide. Be sure to catch them live to witness the ‘Live’ experience, including a curated “Delicatessen” warehouse party in London, and get a preview from this video of James and Jas live at FYF in Los Angeles last year.

The Bedrock Anniversary parties in London are always truly special as it feels like coming home to me. For some reason this party seemed extra special, Fire in Vauxhall is a new venue for us and it has a labyrinth of rooms under the arches which allowed us to feature a line up that most festivals would be happy with! There was definitely a magical vibe in the air when I arrived. I had heard that people had travelled from Russia, America, all over Europe, even New Zealand, to be there. The party was perfect for me, the amazing international crowd created an incredible atmosphere all night long. I love DJing more than ever these days, so to get to play for over 8 hours to an up for it crowd like that, was just pure heaven. This is the first time I have released a 4xCD live mix from one of my gigs and I hope it brings back some great memories for those who were there. If you couldn’t make it, turn the lights down low, turn the volume up loud and I think you’ll understand. I hope you enjoy listening as much as I did playing.” – John Digweed

Psycatron – Memories Of The Moment (preview)

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on December 5, 2011 by dk

Those of you who remember Psycatron’s stunning remix of Mutant Clan’s ‘Persuader’ from John Digweed’s first ‘Structures’ album, or the brilliant ‘Vertigo In The Modern’ (Beddigi08) with Sian, will no doubt be chomping at the bit to get your ears around this brand new single. This is HOT!!!!!
Psycatron, aka Northern Irish duo Paul Hamill & Dave Oost Lievense, produce 21st century techno with tracks that combine relentless energy and groove with bundles of emotion and tension, to make for an all-encompassing sound that is perfect for those big arenas and club rooms. Their Original Mix with its energetic, melodic, percussive groove backbone mounted on a deep, throbbing bassline, builds a drawn out brooding vibe towards an ecstatic mid-way climax before layering and building in pure, intense Psycatron style.
‘Memories Of The Moment’ has been the biggest track of the summer for Psycatron in their live sets, so you may have heard it already at the I Love Techno Festival, Global Gathering, Klubbers Day Madrid, Fabric, Berghain, Oxygen Ireland, Astrolopolis France, Baracca Valencia, The Loft Barcelona, or on their multiple dates on the Planet E 20th World Tour.
Between them, John Digweed and Nick Muir, producers of the finest electronic dance music, have been involved in many pivotal moments in the world of club music over the years and have in many ways helped to define genres & push the boundaries further. As with all their studio productions their remix of ‘Memories Of The Moment’ is another mission statement to show that they are not resting on past laurels but always developing their sound in an exciting direction. It’s a spine-tingling, fizzing, spiralling, anthemic monster that will be huge worldwide.
Remixes for Spooky, Simian Mobile Disco and Vince Watson have all been Psycatron highlights already this year, and a single with Paul Woolford for HotFlush received critical acclaim. New singles are on the way alongside Sian and Detroit Grand Pubahs, whilst the boys are currently locked down in their studio, working on the first Psycatron long-player for release in 2012. In the meantime you can tune into their fortnightly Electric Avenue radio show on Proton, which already has 20k subscribers.

Psycatron – Memories of the Moment ( John Digweed & Nick Muir remix)

Psycatron’s high profile productions have been popping up on some of the world’s most respected labels, receiving props from some of the biggest names in the business and record sales flying high in the Beatport charts. Fergie (Rekluse), Carl Craig (Planet E), Christian Smith (Tronic), Will Saul (Simple), legendary Belgian label R&S Records, have all featured stunning Psycatron tracks, so it seems fitting that they have now linked up with Bedrock Records again to end the year in style.

“These guys are fantastic, definitely a name to look out for” – John Digweed
“I LOVE Psycatron” – Laurent Garnier
“Psycatron is one of the acts of the year” – Agoria
