Boys Noize new track “What You Want” from Out Of The Black Album Release October 2 on Boysnoize Records

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , on July 24, 2012 by E.N.

First Ever Live Show on October 6th in Berlin

Boys Noize at LA’s HARD Festival 8/3 + NYC’s Electric Zoo Festival 9/2

Boys Noize announces his third album Out Of The Black to be released on October 2ndworldwide via his own label Boysnoize Records. The first rousing track from the album called “What You Want”

Alex Ridha – aka Boys Noize - is a Berlin-based producer, DJ and label owner who started producing and DJing at a very early age and is known internationally as a one of the most valued electronic artists (Independent Music Award in 2010 and 3 consecutive times Best Electronic Artist on Beatport).

The new album perfectly bridges the gap between his previous two efforts Oi Oi Oi andPOWER; providing the requisite in-your-face electro bang of classic Boys Noize on tracks like “What You Want”, “Rocky 2” and “XTC”, or more melodic songs like “Ich R U“ and “Reality“. At a time when mainstream electronic music, particularly the pervasive cultures of EDM and dubstep, have moved dance music out of the clubs and into the stadiums, Ridha is quick to acknowledge the old school house and acid records that shaped him as a DJ; the very same records that continue to bubble up as an influence on Out Of The Black.

Boys Noize is proud to bring a full live show to the stage for the first time on October 6th in Berlin, at the start of an extensive 25-city European live tour (dates below + more to be announced soon).

Alex Ridha is at the heart of Boysnoize Records and BNR Trax that involves a roster of over 100 releases by more than a dozen different artists (Spank Rock, The Faint, Mixhell, Strip Steve, Le1f, Housemeister and17-year old SCNTST etc). Along releasing two long players Oi Oi Oi and POWER with contemporary anthems “&Down,” “Don’t Believe The Hype” and “Jeffer” he’s had numerous releases with Mr. Oizo (aka Handbraekes), Erol Alkan, Jarvis Cocker and more.

Boys Noize has been on the forefront of remixing indie artists like Feist’s “My Moon, My Man,” long before it was a custom to remix non-dance tracks. Other remixes range from the likes of David LynchN.E.R.D, Depeche ModeSnoop DoggDaft Punk, The Chemical Brothers to name a few. Having worked with Scissor Sisters, Gonzales,Spank RockSantigold and Kelis, the highly sought after producer, is ready to show the world his best work to date.

The Bloody Beetroots DeathCrew 77 Kick Off

First Extended North American Tour This Week!

Get the Beetroots’ Remix of The Chemical Bros.’

“Dissolve” HERE

On the eve of The Bloody Beetroots’ first extended North American tour as The Bloody Beetroots DeathCrew 77, Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo has released his remix of The Chemical Brothers’ “Dissolve” .Bob has turned The Chemical Brothers’ shimmering, psychedelic epic into a grinding club-ready track with explosive buildups and orchestral explosions. For the first time, Italian producer and polymath Sir Bob will be joined for the extended tour by a full band: The Bloody Beetroots DeathCrew 77. Stepping out from behind the mixers, Rifo now plays guitar, bass, and synths and is joined on stage by Tommy Tea on controllers and the Beetroots’ newest member Edward Grinch on drums.

The new live setup is a dramatic reinterpretation of the Beetroots’ music and the ultimate marriage of the band’s love of grinding electronic melodies, aggressive hardcore punk, and elaborate compositions. Check out the band Live at La Cigale as well as their new video for “Domino” for a sample of The Bloody Beetroots DeathCrew 77.

Since bursting onto the scene in 2007, Bob Rifo has brought a sense of danger to dance floors across the globe. From “Butter” to “Cornelius” to the Steve Aoki assisted “Warp 1.9,” The Bloody Beetroots’ early singles dominated clubs across the globe, paving the way for the group’s debut full-length Romborama. Released in August 2009 on Dim Mak, the record blended lines between house, techno, hip-hop, hardcore punk, and even at times orchestral compositions (after all, Rifo spent years studying composers like Chopin, Beethoven, and Debussy)Romborama was a star-studded affair that featured guest appearances from everyone from Justin Pearson (The Locust, All Leather) and Vicarious Bliss to The Cool Kids and J*DaVeY. The record was followed by the Spares of Romborama Series, which included Xmas Vendetta and The Domino EP. Around this time, Bob recruited Tommy Tea to help him out on the road, and the DJ duo toured the world with one of the most raucous and energetic live shows out there. In between touring, releasing two EPs, and dropping a full length album, Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo managed to collaborate with Steve Aoki to rework The Refused’s legendary track, “New Noise.”

And now with the formation of the The Bloody Beetroots DeathCrew 77, the project is evolving once again. In many ways, Bob is returning to his punk roots.

About Dim Mak: Dim Mak started in 1996 as a whim and became a lifestyle. Launching with a 7″ from obscure SoCal hardcore ensemble Stickfigurecarousel, Dim Mak’s roster grew to include bands outside of hardcore and punk to garage rock and roll, disco punk, new wave, whatever it is that is explosive. The roster is a large and expanding one. There is no particular genre of music they corner other than what they know feels right. The point being is to just to release what they think is good regardless of style, which they have done again and again over the past 13 years.

Spain’s Sonar Fest Headed To Chicago (Sept. 9-11)

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , on June 16, 2010 by E.N.

Sonar, Barcelona’s experimental and electronic music festival, is to hold its first event in Chicago between Sept. 9-11.

Sonar was founded in 1994, but since 2002 has held parallel events outside Spain. Its first excursion into the United States was last year, with two events held in Washington and New York. In its early years, Sonar attracted mainly United Kingdom musicians, as well as a strong contingent from Barcelona’s home region of Catalonia.

Sonar says it expects the Chicago festival to become a regular event. The Chicago operation will be promoted together with Bonnaroo promoter AC Entertainment, with the collaboration of the cultural organization Institut Ramon Llull.

Sonar’s aim is to “disseminate the philosophy of the Barcelona festival and adapt it to new cities and formats.” In Chicago, it will present a “multi-disciplinary line-up with an experimental slant,” says Sonar, and will focus on emerging talent and local scenes in both North America and Catalonia.

The Sonar by Day events in Chicago will be held at the Chicago Cultural Center (CCC), and the headquarters of the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs. The program will be completed with Sonar by Night shows and sessions.

The line-up will as usual combine some important names and less mainstream and more experimental offerings, and details will be announced in mid-July.

Caribou, Speech Debelle, Pete Tong, LCD Soundsystem, Air, Plastikman, Hot Chip, the Chemical Brothers, Roxy Music and Dizzee Rascal will play the Barcelona event June 17-19.

Since 2002, Sonar has held 24 events around the world, such as Lisbon (2002), Neuchatel (2002), Hamburg (2002-06), Tokyo (2002-2004-2006), London (2002-2005, 2009 and 2010) Rome (2003), Sao Paulo (2004), Lyon (2004), Buenos Aires (2006), and Seoul (2006).
