Shinedoe -Illogical Directions

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , on April 9, 2014 by E.N.

ShinedoeThe queen of reinvention, Shinedoe’s third album is a culmination of everything she has achieved to date. From the mesmerizing and melodic‘Circle Of Life’, to the dark and brooding ‘Discourse’ featuring The Knife’s Karin Dreijer, ‘Illogical Directions’ is about letting go, about an artist completely liberated in her studio, making music from the heart and processing all her experiences into one impressive trip.

“I don’t want to make rational choices, it’s important that music can move in any direction, even if it doesn’t really make sense. It’s the only way to completely feel free, to avoid getting trapped in some sort of format.”  Shinedoe

The first lady of Amsterdam, Shinedoe shot into the spotlight a little over a decade ago with a string of omnipresent club hits and an imitable style of stripped back techno with a funky edge. Over sixty releases later, her identity is rooted in techno foundations and Dutch notoriety with a pinch of jazz, funk and dub. Her third album, ‘Illogical Directions’ is bold and adventurous, introducing a seductive side to her down-to-earth nature.

Jonas Rathsman – Hope I’m Wrong(Stream)+Tour

Posted in News with tags , , , , , on March 27, 2014 by E.N.

UtskriftJonas Rathsman follows up the huge ‘Feel What I Feel’ with his first single of 2014. Available via French Express on March 31st, ‘Hope I’m Wrong’ is a sure-fire underground smash that has been a focal point of Jonas’ recent sets.

Jonas utilises a huge bass groove packing some serious punch, but he doesn’t rely on it, the bitter sweet soulful vocals, retro percussion and depth of production radiate that distinctive warmth that you come to expect from a Jonas Rathsman production.

After being declared a ‘Future Star of 2013’ by BBC Radio 1’s key dance figure, Pete Tong, Jonas has lived up to all expectations by playing in over 50 cities across the world including a massive 10 date tour of North America with his fellow label mates Perseus, Moon Boots and Isaac Tichauer.

He continues in the same vein for 2014 and March will see Jonas back on tour in the UK, kicking things off with a headline appearance in Manchester for Eton Messy and supporting Duke Dumont, The Magician and Waze & Odyssey in London at the much acclaimed XOYO Loves.

America is seriously starting to sit up and take notice with Jonas appearing at the French Express Showcase in Miami, Ultra Music Festival, Coachella, Counterpoint Music Festival as well as supporting Gorgon City and Kidnap Kid at Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn.

Hot of the back of massive remixes for Tensnake, Brit Award nominees London Grammar and Grammy Award nominee Duke Dumont – 2014 is already shaping up to be a defining year.

George FitzGerald Announces Debut US Tour – Releases ‘Magnetic’(Stream)

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , on November 19, 2013 by E.N.

gf_magnetic_tour.1George FitzGerald Gets Magnetic
New Single And Debut North American Headlining Tour

Over the course of the last six years George FitzGerald has channeled disparate elements of techno, dubstep, house and garage into a cohesive and singular sound. His range is evidenced by a release history that encompasses such diverse and heralded underground tastemaking labels as Hotflush, Aus and Hypercolor, Fitzgerald’s own ManMakeMusic, and in 2013, his new home base, indie-powerhouse Domino.

FitzGerald’s most recent release, his debut on Domino, ‘I Can Tell’, broke new ground for the producer. His forthcoming release ‘Magnetic’ offers further evidence of the maturation of FitzGerald’s sound, and yet also a return to the underground parties where he made his name.

Lead single ‘Magnetic’ is the first time George uses his own vocals on a track rather than samples, though the woozy refrain ‘Feel Magnetic’ is more an ominous siren-song to dark warehouses than any bid for pop-stylings. His tracks are some of the hardest working on the dancefloor, yet for all their menace, FitzGerald is able to imbue them with warmth. It’s a unique tenet of his work, and with the addition of his own vocals, Magnetic offers literal evidence, that FitzGerald is developing into one of the most unique voices in underground dance music.

While Magnetic may evolve FitzGerald’s use of vocals, B-side ‘Bad Aura’, takes a completely different approach, with the producer unusually opting to forgo all vocals on the track. Instead listeners are treated to stabbing synths and acid squelches that sit atop a brooding bassline.

B-side ‘Bad Aura’

Magnetic will be released on November 18.

Tour dates below:
Dec 6th – San Francisco @ Monarch
Dec 7th – Chicago @ Spybar
Dec 8th – Miami @ Treehouse
Dec 13th – Toronto @ 794 Bathurst
Dec 14th – Denver @ Norad
Dec 15th – Los Angeles @ Medussa Lounge
Dec 19th – NYC @ Output
Dec 20th – Philadelphia @ Dolphin

Listen to ’1968′ the title track from Submotion Orchestra’s forthcoming EP

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , on October 24, 2013 by E.N.

CR027

Critically acclaimed for their vast sound infusing Jazz, Dub and Soul, Submotion Orchestra return with a new EP titled ‘1968’, which is due for release on the 4th November via Circus Records.

Title track, ‘1968’ is the perfect introduction to the forthcoming EP as lead singer Ruby’s vocals soar over a wall of subtle, yet monumental instrumentation.

A surprising yet assured signing by Circus Records, a label who are more associated with bruising bass than the elegant tones of Submotion Orchestra, label co-founder Flux Pavilion declared his love for the band, which soon led to them signing to Circus, reinstating the label’s ethos of releasing only the highest quality music, regardless of genre.

Flux Pavilion says “to release Submo on Circus is amazing, I’ve always been a big fan of their music.

Amongst a current trend in EDM, Submotion Orchestra offers a soothing influence that has been praised by the likes of The Guardian and The Times. Leeds’s finest will be embarking on a European tour next month, including a date at London’s prestigious Koko on the 15th November as well dates in Prague and Bratislava.

For full listings of Submotion Orchestra’s European tour head to their Facebook page.

Texas – “Dry Your Eyes” featuring Richard Hawley(Video)

Posted in News with tags , , , , , on October 22, 2013 by E.N.

Sharleen Spiteri - TexasIn their 25th anniversary year TEXAS have returned to the top of the album and airplay charts across Europe, while their new album ‘The Conversation’ (which entered the UK charts at Number Four in May) has won serious acclaim for its songwriting and musical depth and rapidly secured Gold status in the UK, adding to the band’s career sales of over 30 million and counting.

Now Texas release the latest single from the album, the stunning ‘Dry Your Eyes’, which will be released through [PIAS] Recordings on November 18th.

Co-written by Sharleen Spiteri and Johnny McElhone with Richard Hawley at his Sheffield studio, ‘Dry Your Eyes’ is a Texas at their anthemic best, with its flavours of early Blondie, rock’n’roll and an unforgettable sing-a-long chorus. The story of the song is described by frontwoman Sharleen Spiteri as “one woman talking to another who’s going through a really shitty time. Absolutely a through-and-through woman’s song.”

The accompanying video continues the great Texas tradition of eye-catching storylines and unusual cameos with This Is England’s Vicky McLure and Lip Services’ Ruta Gedmintas taking the starring roles alongside Sharleen in a pub scene. Vicky joins the likes of Alan Rickman, Jean Reno and Peter Mullan as Texas video guest stars. Sharleen goes on to explain “It was a pleasure working with Vicky and Ruta as they’re such great actresses and good friends of mine so the whole day was easy and enjoyable. Tto be honest when you’re in a pub having a drink with your mates it feels more like a night out than a day at work. I thought we were genius at acting drunk!! “.
