As La Femme prepares to for their first U.S. gigs, the band remains an enigma. Hailing from Paris, the group walks the line between erotic avant-pop and lo-fi surf rock. Their music can be flippantly light-hearted or aggressively dark depending on their mood. The one thing is clear though: La Femme is part of the 2010s, a decade that has yet to be written.
Listening to La Femme’s upcoming four-track EP — set for release on December 13th on 3rd Side Records — the band’s music takes many shapes, none of which are completely in focus. “Sur La Planche” (“On the Board”) hurls down gigantic waves of surf guitar with ease and style.

“Françoise”is a faceless sonic sensation, while “La Femme Ressort” (“The She Spring”) is a snapshot of a rainy Paris side street. The band is at it’s most driving with “Telegraphe” is a French new-wave rave up, filtered through The Ventures’ back catalog. It’s a brand of music that’s as forward-thinking as it is reverent to its influences. Keep an eye out for the band’s debut EP.
La Femme will be spending the next 2 months in the U.S.A., playing the East Coast and creating general mischief. Additional tour dates coming soon!
