“Sympathy, is filled with gorgeously melancholic tracks (think Wilco meets The Lonely Forest), and we can’t get enough.” –Nylon

“From the opening hum and drone that becomes a choral cascade on “Bury the Floors,” to the mellow yet majestic turn of “Five Minutes,” Sympathy is a joy to behold, all beguilingly beautiful invention that takes subtle shifts into elevated terrain.” – No Depression

“There’s a lot of hope in this music, and we’ve got a lot of hope for this band’s upcoming full-length, Sympathy.” – RCRD LBL

In the hands of the Album Leaf, the band’s anthemic track becomes a slow-building ethereal epic. The band is also heading out on tour this spring and summer, including tour dates with Asobi Sesku. See full tour dates below. Stay tuned for new July/August tour dates coming soon!

It’s been a whirlwind year for Scattered Trees. A little over a year ago, Scattered Trees was effectively broken up, with members of the band literally scattered all across the country. Then, lead singer Nate Eiseland’s father passed away, and as a tribute to his late father, Nate penned a series of songs on his acoustic guitar. With those acoustic songs in hand, the band came back together in Chicago and fleshed out the tracks, writing the songs that would become Sympathy. That album has been praised by Nylon, RCRD LBL, Consequence of Sound and others as an album that’s not to be missed. The band’s music is also currently climbing the Hype Machine charts.

Born out of tragedy, Sympathy reaches for great emotional heights, exploring the intricacies of love and loss in the process. The lush confessional “Bury the Floors” opens the album, setting the tone for the rest of the record with lush multi-part harmonies and Nate Eiseland’s stark lyricism. It’s a diverse record where rock epics like “Love and Leave” and “Four Days Straight” exist side-by-side with slow-burners like “Five Minutes” and “On Your Side.” It’s a rare, cathartic record that’s as heartfelt as it is therapeutic.
