Cloud Seeding “Mirage” (feat. Alexa Wilding)(Stream)

Cloud Seeding continues its collaborative project with their sixth single, “Mirage,” featuring Alexa Wilding. Serra quickly gained an admiration for Alexa’s dark and visual music when he stumbled across videos for her songs “Black Diamond Day” and “Knife.” He contacted the singer and the two became fast friends over snacks in the West Village. “I was immediately drawn to Kevin’s music,” Wilding says, “the skeletal instrumentals he sent me reminded me of Hal Hartley’s soundtracks, only grittier. They had a dark and cinematic nostalgia to them that got me writing right away.” Fun fact, they have both worked with members of Television (Serra has taken guitar lessons from Richard Lloyd and Fred Smith mixed both of Wilding’s records).
Wilding was ready to get to work, the only caveat was she was heavily pregnant with twin boys. After a long wait which saw the birth of her twins, “Mirage” was finally completed in April 2014, mixed and mastered by Wilding’s longtime engineer, Murray Trider at Ground Control Studios in South Williamburg. Wilding’s bandmate, Jared Barron, added percussion to the song. The cover is designed by Ian Patrick Sullivan. “‘Mirage’ is very special to me,” Wilding shares, “I was unclear what being a mother would mean for my music, and this song, a road song of sorts, carried me through to the other side, and pushed me into some new sonic territory.”

Armand Margjeka Releases His Second Masterpiece, Hummingbird on 6/10

Armand Margjeka captures the essence of the human brain; always thinking, always looking for a new thing. Working with Darrell Thorp (Beck, Outcast) and Chris Steffen (Ben Harper) to produce the upcoming album Hummingbird (June 10,2014)

Hummingbird is a step forward for singer/songwriter and musician, Armand Margjeka. For his second solo album, Margjeka hand-picked 10 songs from his long list of recordings to formHummingbird. This album represents whatever the listen thinks it does. Margjeka said: “I would rather not beat the listener to the punch and omit any possible influence the record might have that I didn’t even intend to bring but let the listener come to their own conclusions without any real guidance.” With a more mature approach than before and the desire to influence, Margjeka portrays his hope to interest and inspire his listeners through his sound and his create-your-own-meaning lyrics  found throughout Hummingbird.

Margjeka was born in Albania and raised on American music. The communist regime he grew up with was oppressive, but somehow a mix tape of American rock’n’roll found its way into his hands. Music videos and tapes of some of his favorite artists taught Margjeka more about the language than what he learned in school.  Armand Margjeka’s sophomore release Hummingbird is slated for a Spring 2014 release via PIPEANDGUN and Communicating Vessels.

Silverbird With The Spirits(Stream)

Silverbird formed when frontman/songwriter Tim Barr, whose past musical endeavors include a short stint performing with Lizzy Grant aka Lana Del Ray as well as playing and studying with Dizzy Gillespie’s longtime pianist Mike Longo, caught the attention of producer Kristopher Harris (Smoke Fairies, Story Books, Matthew and the Atlas), who then began working with Barr’s initial demos. Shortly thereafter, Surface Life was born. Silverbird is rounded out by bassist Corey Davis, guitarist Dan Whaley, and drummer Jacob Schaub.
