Vitalic Live (only show outside of London)+free tickets

Winners will be notified by mail!

His debut full-length ‘OK Cowboy’ made waves back in 2005 with its woozy blend of smarter-than-average synths and weirder-than-average samples. Then, last year, Vitalic confirmed himself a great with Flashmob, his second and finest long player to date: an album with a blistering, claustrophobically compressed production, beautifully brutal beats and madly addictive tunes, emotion, invention and melody, all delivered with a wink of its glittery disco eye. The Frenchman’s multilayered productions and sets get him gigs at places like matter, Bestival and Snowbombing and really are something fresher than most producers can ever offer.

His live show is a special one indeed… it’s a retina-scorching, brain-meltingly brilliant live performance which puts the man on a par with greats such as The Chemical Brothers, Daft Punk and Kraftwerk.

Weekly event Fade has secured a huge headline act for their party on March 20th …Gatecrasher has a reputation the world over as one of the foremost clubbing venues in the UK and it will no doubt come alive tonight with such excellent musical offerings, so don’t miss out! Polly and The Chosen Ones also play tonight and provide the sort of varied electronic beats you can’t help but get down to.

Hs cheeky bootlegs of big tunes- “Proper Education” was nominated for the 2008 Grammy for Best Remixed Recording – have seen him top the charts, whilst his work under his Cirez D alias as seen him release some killer deep house tracks which have ruled the underground.
This careful and smart approach of releasing certain tracks under different pseudonyms, always on his own labels Pryda, Pryda Friends, and Mouseville, has enabled him to achieve a kind of success that has never been seen before or since.

FINGERPRINT
February 20th, 2010
Spektrum, Manchester

Lemos (Cecille/Resopal) | Bill Jones | Iain Dixon

Things get deep at Fingerprint this month: Cecille’s Lemos is the main man.

Greek born Lemos aka George Laimos is a deep house producer and DJ aligned with such quality labels as D’Julz’ Bass Culture (in fact he put out said labels first release, Kalooo, which people like Sebo K named as their tune of the summer) and Nick Curly’s Cecille, He mixes in organic and jazzy notes to his sets and productions, always with lashing of sub-bass, echo and reverb of the sort to carve a groove in an decent dance floor. Places like Fabric and Mint Club have fallen under his spell before, so you know the guy got skills.

Someone of Lemos’ ilk is perfect for a setting like Spektrum. A nice, darkened, tight knit club space with raw fixtures and fittings – a place you can forget everything and lose yourself in the consuming beats which echo all around. Getting you going before that, though, are the residents Bill Jones and Iain Dixon, a pair who live up to the tough job that is being resident by supplying just enough – but not so much as to peak – house and tech bounce and drive. Lovely.

So for a voyage into the deep electronic unknown with a more than able pilot, get yourself down to Spektrum, the hooded, youthful and knowing crowd waiting for you on the dance floor do so with open arms…

Fingerprint with James Priestley
16th Feb 2010
The Underground, Leeds
11pm – 5am £10

James Priestley (Simple/Secretsundaze)
Cera Alba & Brett Sinclair
Brad Parkins
Bill Jones

Now they are a reliable and regular fixture on the Manchester scene, Fingerprint spread their underground house and tech crusade across the Pennines to Leeds, with James Preistley headlining their first event.

Their home will be The Underground – a darkened little bar beneath Leeds’ O2 Academy and a perfectly nondescript venue which will allow the clubbers and DJs to add the colour, as should all good venues. If their Manchester crowds are anything to go by, Fingerprint will attract a range of wised-up girls and boys who aren’t afraid to shift their asses on the dance floor.

As with their Manchester guests (Mirko Loko, Clive Henry, Reboot) James Priestley is a quality booking: his Secretsundaze parties in London have developed a cult following and helped propel deep house into the popular monster in became last year. Expect his set to blend together time-honoured, classic house tracks with up-front numbers to sophisticated effect. His mixing is virtually seamless, merging the tunes into one another to subtly build his way through the wee hours. Don’t miss out.

Local DJs Cera Alba & Brett Sinclair and of course the trusty residents, Brad Parkins and Bill Jones will provide perfect support for the main acts – dropping house and tech vibes to warm the floor through during the freezing winter night. So, get on board and help Fingerprint make the same sort of impression on Leeds as they have on Manchester…

FILTH LAUNCH PARTY @ RAINBOW GARDEN

FRIDAY 2ND OCTOBER 10PM – 4AM

For a couple of years, FILTH have been pushing boundaries in the north and, fresh from their first season in Ibiza, they’re due to arrive in Birmingham on Friday October 2nd, then monthly after that. Having brought the likes of Arno Cost, Style of Eye, Loose Cannons and Riva Star to their events elsewhere, Birmingham’s scene is set to have a welcome injection of new thinking, new music.

Bringing the fidgety, jacking and energy laced 4/4 to the Black Country for this inaugural event is Mowgli, along with residents Jackinori and Eddi Zanetti. Italian born, London based house producer Mowgli, always puts the music first. Spending hours each week picking out the best new music to play for you, he’s also produced for some of the best breaks labels like Skint, Southern Fried and Domino, has remixed the likes of X-Press 2, Sugarbabes and Don Diablo. As Minimow he takes the mood down, spinning deep house, tech and minimal. Music is in this man’s blood, so you’re sure to be taken somewhere special in his presence.
Room 2 is th Ice Cream Van room with more kinetic beats from the likes of Andy Styler, Ollie Newis, Tomarse, Made for Radio and Costello.

Bouncing at one of the north’s best club (Mint, Leeds) each month, Filth have offered fresh house sounds and catapulted the burgeoning likes of Bart B More and Lee Mortimer to stardom, whilst pleasing a crowd that rivals the regulars of any club night in the country. The family which has grown around a core of competent residents and music focused promoters, is one that gets involved, dances from the first to the last beat, and welcomes you whoever you are. Birmingham, meet Filth.

Reboot joins the now well established part down at Spektrum this month, fresh from headlining some of Ibiza’s biggest and best parties over the summer.
Melting top techno and house acts with the brightest new prospects from the scene is the way Fingerprint roll. Dancing to an underground beat is what the Fingerprint clubbers do: they’re all fans of in-the-know dance music and the joys that go with it meaning Fingerprint is leaving its mark on a competitive scene.

Headliner and Frankfurter Reboot, is amongst a group of artists to have introduced the world to the recent deep house movement which has bled from his home town over the last couple of years. Cocoon, Cadenza and Moon Harbour are amongst the labels on which he’s unleashed his loopy, deep and bouncing house and techno cuts, Fabric, Amnesia and Matter amongst his regular haunts.

Settled in new home Spektrum, this is a night which makes the most of the cosy 350 club capacities, Funktion 1 and half Phazon sound system. Kompakt
Presents Mint Club 12th Birthday
Michael Mayer | Ada | Tobias Thomas

———————————————-

It’s time to celebrate at Mint in September: not only is one of the north’s most consistent clubs turning twelve, but genre defying electronic innovators Kompakt are in town. Representing the arty Cologne label are three of its finest proponents… Michael Mayer (co-founder) Tobias Thomas (long time member of the Kompakt camp) and Ada are all charged with representing one of electronica’s finest labels.
Under the – still relatively new – LED ceiling over the main dancefloor, consumed in smoke and bouncing shoulder to shoulder with a bunch of likeminded people, you’ll be treated to some of the most precise, crisp and punchy sonics in the country. The Mint’s killer Funktion One is a master example of sound engineering which will make you mention it at least three times each visit, and is one of the reasons the club holds a dear spot in many wised-up heart.
When headliner Michael Mayer is at the controls and expressing himself, you want to be there. As he weaves through a selection of 4/4, expect the trademark Kompakt sounds – poppy waves, avant stylings and glossy productions all mixed by the German with acute timing and a genuine narrative.
Fresh off the back of assembling ‘Adaptations Mixtape #1’ on Kompakt – widely regarded as one of the year’s most compelling records – Ada’s star is in ascendancy once again. Her warm productions simultaneously nod to the past and peek into the future with their silky vocals, sultry melodies and hints of chirpy Kompakt charisma.
Completing the trio is Tobias Thomas who’s long been close to the heart of the label. Techy pop sheens, pulsing grooves and heads down dancing fodder make up the Thomas sound, and round off a night of exciting underground action in a midsized but cosy club space.
The unique Kompakt sound and sleek Mint Club setting complement each other perfectly, and each will be at their purring best for this celebration. In its 12th year, Mint Club is not just plodding along, but instead, with the help of System, is still pushing boundaries in its programming, still honing the club experience in pursuit of perfection. This is another exclusive party, and another reason why the Mint Club continues to be elected ‘best small club in the country.’

The usually quiet and always serene grounds of Leeds’ Lotherton Hall are to be injected with some contemporary electronica par excellence on Saturday September 5th, as Back to Space returns for its second year.
After 2008’s sell out event in Huddersfield , 45 DJs, 3 arenas and live PAs, 10, 000 people and an outdoor stage are all coming together once again, with the sole intention of getting you dancing outdoors, for one last time this summer.
There will be the gorgeous Suzee X who will lace her pumping set with a few of her party starting productions, Out Of Office and his big room perfect-for-a-festival-house (as championed by Radio 1 legend and tastemaker Pete Tong), D&G from Leeds’ beloved all day Sunday carry on Back to Mine (expect only the biggest club classics and funkiest future house, then) as well as sexy electro house from Rob Tissera, tougher stuff from Micky Slim and some live PAs to get you involved, singing and bouncing along.
Even more dance goodness comes from Luke Pompey, fresh from playing at some of the best known clubs, alongside the biggest Djs, all over the world. Plus there are a host of top local promotions including Kissdafunk, Back2mine and Glasshouse all in on proceedings. So, too, are noisy Leeds crew, Filth, who bring with them their house heads from all corners of the spectrum, from fidget to electro, tech to funky who include Dale Castell, Eddi Zanetti, Gav Bailey and more.
As well as all that there will be the usual festival frivolities, a ton more local talent DJ wise, and a fun fare, all adding to the escapist nature of this festival amongst the swaying trees and green pastures of Lotherton Hall. End your summer on a high, it’s time you went Back to Space.

AREA London – Two Massvie Bank Holiday parties+Free Tickets

Posted in *Contest, *Free Tickets, Events, News, Promotions on August 20, 2009 by J.D.

We have 2 pairs of tickets to give away for both events
–If you want to get the chance to win please drop us a mail to
(extramusicnew[at]gmail[dot]com)
with the subject Renegade Hardware or DUB4LIFE
Winners will be notified by mail!

AREA in Vauxhall is the best new place to go for a top-notch night of electronic music. Why would club brands like Mulletover, Bugged Out and the Space Ibiza World Tour drop by for events otherwise? The refurbed venue is now a leading edge, three roomed attack on your clubbing senses. There’s a laser ceiling with 30 lasers, over 750 LEDs slotted into a matrix above the main dance floor, 5 bars and a crisp sound system.
There are two massive – like actually massive, near carnival size – parties lined-up over the Bank Holiday weekend: both have big bass ambitions and both are set to put that 100k sound system to a ribcage rattling good use.

The first, Renegade Hardware on Saturday 29th, is a veritable deebee orgy with over 25 d&b acts on show. Some have earned their reputations as the genre’s finest proponents – Goldie, Doc Scott, Friction, Ed Rush – and some are upcoming starlets you’ll be thrilled to get to know. Either way, there will be three rooms offering every conceivable type of drum and bass riddim from the dubby minimal stuff, to the jump-up razor edged stuff, though some funky old school shit. Of course, there are a host of MCs appearing on the night, all with the aim of getting you fired up.
When this lot are set loose into the futuristic AREA venue, it’s sure to go off; you’re sure to get lost in sound, lost in light, and lost in the moment of one of 2009’s biggest &B events.

The second Bank Holiday bonanza is no less raucous but heads down a more Calypso inspired path than the first, with reggae and dancehall undertones informing the UK bass of this DUB4LIFE party on Sunday 30th.
The main room will be titled ‘A History of Dub’ and charges some of the finest urban DJs and promoters with providing that history. Caspa knows how to party and does so everywhere from Fabric to Exit fest, all the while crafting party dubstep like no other; Hatcha regularly spins on the country’s best dubstep radio station, Rinse FM, along with Chefal, and Ramadanman will provide some heavy low frequencies and totally blur the lines between a host of genres.
On top of all that room 2 is hosted by Anti-Social and room 3 serves up some Brazilian & Latin carnival beats, so… Get ready to skank your way though the urban soundscapes that will fill AREA this Bank Holiday; get ready to join the lasers in slicing up the dance floor and get ready to show indulge your love for dub with a bunch of like minded monsters.
