Concept:

Last year Mr M & One87 launched the first edition of a brand new Dubstep concept called “Daily Dubstep” in the main concert-hall of the first class venue Vooruit in Ghent.

The expectations were high but the final result really exceeded those expectations big time … what an amazing night it was …. Completely sold out from the first go with all you dubstep fans having the night of your life or at least, it looked that way. 😉

So we hope you are ready for some more … because we sure are! It wasn’t easy to top the previous line-up but we think we managed and hope it will exceed your expectations … we have 5 international artists instead of two and two of the UK’s top MC’s to get you going even more …

All our guests are widely accepted as the instigators and leading forces of Dubstep!

First up is N Type who has been proclaimed Best Dubstep DJ several years in a row. Next to running his own label Wheel and Deal Recordings, he’s also co-owner of Sin City Recordings with DJ Hatcha and next to releases for Dubpolice, Terrain Records and more, he also mixed the 5th Allstar Dubstep Compilation for Tempa. And then we haven’t even talked about his super popular radio-show on Rinse FM.

He will be joined by Mala from Digital Mystikz, discovered early on by the legendary John Peel and responsible for the groundbreaking DMZ record label and club-nights as well as many famous productions.

Moving effortlessly through styles from Drum ‘n’ Bass to Dubstep, Breakage has proved himself to be one of the most versatile operators in either scene to date. A prodigious talent, he already has a number of classic releases under his belt but continues to develop his sound with releases across leading imprints including Digital Soundboy, Tempa and Warp.
Youngsta doesn’t only A&R for the leading Tempa Record label, he also represents the label all over the world, mixes compilations and is now getting into more production work with DJ Seven.
And even though Kryptic Minds started out in the Drum ‘n’ Bass scene, they re-discovered their musical faith through Dubstep, through creative alliances with half-step dons Youngsta and Loefah.
Add to that the energy and power of SP:MC and Stamina MC as well as Belgian talents Grimelock and Science and you know, this will be a wicked party again!
So make damn sure you don’t miss it … it just might go down, again, as one of the best Dubstep parties Belgium knows, and if in doubt, maybe these pics will give you an idea …

Artists:

N Type ( Wheel and Deal Records, Tempa, Rinse.FM, UK )

The award-winning Dubstep DJ / producer and label owner N-Type is without doubt one of the heavyweights in the scene. Voted Best Dubstep DJ several years in a row, he has releases out on labels such as Tempa, 3.5 Records and his own Terrain imprint. You can always expect the freshest dub-plates, biggest beats, bass-lines and anthems in an N-Type set.

N-Type began his career presenting an underground chart show on Delight FM with DJ Walsh. As time went by Walsh left the station and N-Type later took on a weekend chart show as he established a solo career. He quickly established himself as the main Dubstep DJ/producer on Delight FM and did regular guest shows on many other London pirate stations and internet stations. His mix compilations were rinsed on radio, which helped him gain recognition and bookings all over England and abroad. His shows have always concentrated on good vibes and giving the best music and talent the recognition they deserve.

He is always up to date with a wide selection of dubs from the finest producers. Eventually Delight fm closed down due to unexplained circumstances and N-Type moved on to Rinse Fm. Since then he has gained international recognition and currently presents a popular show on http://www.Rinse.fm. He expanded the show with more interviews, guest mixes and collaborations pushing artists and their music to the fullest.

In 2005 he focused his attention on production with his first sell out Track “Square off” hitting record shops on Southside Dubstars. He then signed tracks to other labels such as Dubpolice, Tempa and 3.5 Records and his own label Terrain Records.

His tunes have been gaining support from many Dj’s and radio stations with regular airplay on Rinse Fm, BBC Radio 1’s Breezeblock thanks to Mary Anne Hobbs and the Dubstep show on Kiss 100FM thanks to DJ Hatcha. N-Type is currently a resident at FWD>> & Dubpolice and has played at the mighty DMZ.

In 2007 N-Type was then given the opportunity by Ammuntion and Tempa to mix the 5th installment of Dubstep Allstars 5. The mix was released in the summer and took the critics by storm! This was a sure sign of the growth of the music and the respect it was getting.

More recently he started a new label Wheel and Deal Records with releases from DJ Kutz, Matt U, Youngsta, … Next to that he runs Sin City Records with DJ Hatcha.

Mala ( Digital Mystikz, UK )

Digital Mystikz, comprised of DJ/producers Coki and Mala, are at the forefront of London’s dubstep sound, leading the way with their own unique brand of dubbed out London sounds. Both derived of jungle, dub reggae and garage yet brand new, the sound had emerged from London and spread a love of sub bass, skankin riddims and mystical melodies across the world.

Along with Loefah and Sgt. Pokes, they operate the DMZ record label and host the influential bimonthly nightclub DMZ, held at the Mass club complex in Brixton, London. Legendary BBC Radio 1 DJ John Peel, was an early supporter of Digital Mystikz, eventually putting them in his annual 2004 Top 50 list at #29.

They are among the scene’s most famous producers. Their song “Anti War Dub” appeared in the 2006 film “Children of Men,” although it wasn’t included in the soundtrack. In the summer of 2008, Mala was chosen to headline the night portion of the Sónar Festival in Barcelona. Nowadays, he travels the world!

Breakage ( Digital Soundboy, Bassbin, Critical, UK )

Never afraid to make an impact, Breakage burst onto the Drum ‘n’ Bass scene back in 2000 and announced his arrival with a raucous remix of a hardcore classic, Nasty Habit’s ‘Here Come the Drums’ on Reinforced. Backing up this bold move with a series of EPs for the legendary label proved he was no young pretender and he quickly established himself at the forefront of new wave of break-beat scientists.

A regular guest at nights such as Technicality in London and Bassbin in Dublin, Breakage brought his own unique mix of reggae bass-lines and time-stretched funk breaks to the clubs with huge success. His remix of Equinox’s ‘Acid Rain’ (originally released on Innerspective) plus massive singles for Bassbin (‘So Vain’) and Critical (‘Staggered Dub’) drew support from a range of DJs across the scene, including Fabio, Shy FX and Zinc, and quickly regarded by some as classics.

Support from Planet Mu boss Mike Paradinas resulted in a release on the esteemed label (‘Drowning b/w 9th Hand’) and hinted at the appeal of Breakage’s music beyond the club environment. With further releases on Critical and Scientific Wax plus the development of a collaborative partnership with DJ Flight (under the name Alias), Breakage had already proven his versatility and shown that he was capable of much more.

His debut album release came in 2006 and clearly demonstrated Breakage could adapt to a range of styles. Featuring joint efforts alongside SP:MC and Rohan, ‘This Too Shall Pass’ also included more slower tempo material and hinted at what was to come. Linking up with Digital Soundboy in 2007, Breakage soon turned heads with the haunting half-time dubbed-out beats of ‘Clarendon b/w Shroud’.

It came as no surprise that he would make waves in the dubstep community with his next release, ‘Callahan b/w Untitled,’ and set dancefloors ablaze with a joint remix of Benga & Coki’s ‘Night,’ alongside Shy FX as Digital Soundboy. With reggae legend David Rodigan lending vocals to his next release (‘Together b/w Rain’), Breakage continued to build on his successes and established himself firmly as one on of the leading lights at 140bpm.

Remixes for the Sony-backed songstress Zarif plus leftfield hiphop maverick Flying Lotus are slated for release before his next LP, ‘Foundation’, and hint strongly at the strength of Breakage’s appeal. With high profile collaborations across a range of styles, the album shows Breakage at his best and is accompanied by a worldwide tour.

Youngsta ( Tempa , FWD >>, Rinse.fm, UK )

Without doubt one of the finest DJs in Dubstep, Youngsta’s flawless mixing and deadly accurate selection place him at the forefront of this evolving scene. Representing flagship label Tempa with an exclusive array of dub-plates, his sets continue to raise the bar for quality and innovation.

Despite his young age, Youngsta has already attained veteran status in the Dubstep scene. Residencies at FWD>> and Rinse FM set him apart as a tastemaker and pioneer, supporting early productions from the likes of El-B, Horsepower, Loefah, Digital Mystickz, Skream, Benga, D1 and Headhunter. More recently, he’s been working in the studio alongside Seven, N-Type, Kryptic Minds and Icicle.

Youngsta was asked to present the Dubstep Allstars 2 CD for Tempa in 2005, following Hatcha’s first instalment in the ground-breaking series. Built around exclusive dub-plates created for only a handful of DJs, the compilation reflects Youngsta’s skills both in crafting a mix as well as selecting a sound. It’s no surprise he now represents Tempa as A&R and has helped bring attention to the likes of D1, Headhunter, SP:MC and Seven plus others on the label.

Although he’s not yet known as a producer, Youngsta’s had a strong influence on the progression of the sound known as Dubstep so far. Having cut his teeth with a VIP remix of Loefah’s “Twisup” in 2005, Youngsta has preferred to focus on DJing before rushing into production himself. More recently, he’s linked with Seven and N-Type in the studio and is looking forward to working with the likes of Icicle and SP:MC in the near future.

Youngsta also maintains a weekly radio show on Rinse FM. With his focus clearly on the music, he regularly features guest MCs including former host Task and more recently Toast and SP:MC. In 2008, Youngsta teamed up with station boss Geeneus to mix and compile the “I Love Dubstep” double CD, highlighting the instrumental role of Rinse FM in some of the scene’s finest moments to date.

In 2009, Youngsta released several collaborations with Seven of which “Massai Mara” b/w “The Story” (by Seven & N-Type featuring Youngsta) appeared on N-Type’s Wheel & Deal label. These tracks and others, including “Who’s There?”, have been causing a massive buzz on Youngsta’s Rinse FM show and a single for Tempa from the duo is in the works.

Kryptic Minds ( Osiris Music, Swamp81, Tectonic, UK )

Ten years since they formed, 2009 marks a turning point in the disturbed mental explorations of Kryptic Minds. Having built an enviable back catalogue of dark, deadly Drum ‘n’ Bass, the production duo of Si & Leon aka Kryptic Minds have quickly established a foothold in the exploding global Dubstep scene. As the flagship artists on Loefah DMZ’s label Swamp 81, their 12”s and album “One of Us” continue Dubstep’s tradition for stone-cold halfstep, flying against the dancefloor’s natural urges for momentum and release.

Instead they unleash fearsome sub bass assaults that lead listeners into an edgy otherworld and have become staples of sets by halfstep innovator Youngsta as well as Loefah himself. Look out for upcoming releases across some of Dubstep’s leading labels including Tectonic, Disfigured Dubz plus their own Osiris Music UK.

Kryptic Minds, then just Si, first gained prominence in the Drum ‘n’ Bass scene when Andy C’s Ram subsidiary Frequency released ‘The Truth’, quickly earning itself anthem status. The track’s success brought Si new creative opportunities: it was at this time Si and Leon Switch began a long and fruitful production partnership. Together the duo released tracks on some of the Drum ‘n’ Bass scene’s flagship labels, such as Penetration, Renegade Hardware, Tech Freak, Freak Recordings, and Goldie’s seminal Metalheadz.

They also established their own label Defcom Records, on which they released 27 singles, including ‘Take the Pain Away’ and ‘No Escape,’ as well as their debut album, the Drum ‘n’ Bass opus “Lost All Faith”. 2007 saw it declared by ATM magazine as one of the best drum & bass albums of all time. It was also at this time they set up new label Osiris Music uk, to release a wide range of music.

Inspired by Mala Digital Mystikz, Loefah and Burial 2008 saw the duo re-discover their musical faith through Dubstep, following the establishing of creative alliances with half-step dons Youngsta and Loefah. One of Loefah’s classic’s “Root” received the Kryptic Minds remix treatment. They also played at one of Dubstep’s most hallowed institutions, DMZ. The future’s dark, the future’s Kryptic Minds!

SP:MC ( Club Autonomic, UK )

Within the last 5 years, SP:MC has established himself as one of the busiest and most innovative MCs in both drum & bass and dubstep. As well working closely with front-runners DJ Friction, D-Bridge, Breakage and Youngsta, he holds residencies at leading nights including Shogun Audio, A Bunch of Cuts and Club Autonomic.

His passion for the music undoubtedly comes through on the mic. With a unique flow and the confidence to leave space for the beats to breathe, it’s clear that SP is an MC who only compliments and never competes with the DJ.

With a deep understanding of the music he’s so passionate about, SP has proved himself to be a talented producer in his own right. Recent releases on Tempa (alongside Joker D) and Shogun LTD (with Jubei and Dakuan as Code3) have demonstrated both quality and diversity, whatever the tempo. With another 12″ on Tempa plus a Code3 release on D-Bridge’s Exit Records, 2009 is yet another big year.

Stamina MC ( Digital Soundboy, Rinse.fm, UK )

A multi-talented natural performer, effortlessly combining the roles of vocalist, host and MC with a massive stage-presence, Stamina’s well earned reputation speaks for itself. He‘s a touring veteran and lives up to his name absolutely, making regular appearances across the globe in Brazil, Australia, New Zealand, USA, Japan, UK, Europe and beyond. Whether alongside Shy FX, DJ Marky, DJ Fu & Jungle Drummer or a whole of top DJs, Stamina’s high energy performances are certain to raise the crowd with an outstanding range of lyrics, harmonies and freestyles to match the occasion.

A total professional, his love of music always takes centre stage and shines through whether performing live, on radio or in the studio. Stamina’s unswerving commitment to the Drum ‘n’ Bass scene at a grass roots level really sets him apart from the rest and has won him the support of a broad base of fans. Representing on London’s Rinse FM with a weekly show, he’s also a moderator for Drum and Bass Arena’s online forum plus a producer and a DJ in his own right.
Grimelock ( Stainage )

Grimelock have been steadily building a name for them throughout Europe as Belgium’s finest bass music export. Coming from the early Belgian jungle scene, Wallace and Kalib created Grimelock in 2004. MC’s Maëlan and Dynamic joined the crew shortly after to fill the shows with their energy.

Grimelock brings on stage a unique, explosive and fast-paced combination of dubstep, garage, electro and hip hop in which are blended own productions, exclusive dub-plates and timeless classics. Add to this the raw live energy of the MC’s and don’t be surprised if you find yourself bouncing, sweating and screaming for more.

In 2008 they set up Stainage Records, a label aiming to promote Belgian productions worldwide. They were also responsible for the infamous Stainage parties that brought all the biggest Dubstep names in Brussels ages before the hype.

Science ( Untitled )

This Antwerp based duo (Dennis Nesen & Maarten Dekort) is one of our country’s finest. They will soon be releasing their debut EP through the Untitled! Record label and their music is on high rotation on all the major radio-stations such as Studio Brussels and Sub FM.

At the young age of 20 they’ve already played alongside pioneers such as Mala, Coki, Loefah, Hatcha, Pinch and many more. Guaranteed bassweight!

“There’s a whole generation of people who have never heard of me or the band I used to be in, The Stranglers. The question is, how do I reach them?” Huh asks in the video. “As far as I’m concerned, the free downloading of music is something we should embrace and not fear… People introduced to my music free online are more likely to buy my records and come to my live shows.”

Hugh is pioneering free downloads as his latest album, Hooverdam, is available for free download at his website, Hughcornwell.com which is available for viewing in twelve languages.
He has also released the MP3 for single “Please Don’t Put Me On A Slow Boat To Trowbridge” from the new record which you can download here.

Every year at WMC Three invites a like-minded special guest along for the Hallucination ride. Previous guests include Radio Slave, James Holden, Damian Lazarus and Cobblestone Jazz. This year it’s Three’s West Coast brother-in-arms Doc Martin, who joins the celebration alongside label contributors Sycophant Slags (Mr. C & Adultnapper), Reverse Commuter *live* (aka [a]pendics.shuffle, Kenneth James Gibson) performing material from his soon-to-be released debut album “Exposure” and NYC’s No Regular Play *live*.

Founded by dance legends Rabbit in the Moon and responsible for multiple timeless releases from electro legends Dynamix 2 / Jackal & Hyde to the benchmark tech-house classic that is Second-Hand Satellites — the Hallucination Recordings imprint was one of America’s most celebrated of the 90’s alongside Ovum, Planet E and Exist Dance. In 2003, longtime label cohort Three (of Second-Hand Satellites) started the boutique, vinyl-only Hallucination Limited imprint to carry out his own vision of Hallucination into the 21st century. After suffering distribution woes all-to-common in the last decade, the label is back with a full release schedule for 2010 delivering a refreshing take on all things house, techno and electronica.

To mark this occasion we are releasing the Hallucination Limited WMC Sampler to give you a taste of new and exclusive material available only through Beatport on Wednesday, March 17th. His debut full-length ‘OK Cowboy’ made waves back in 2005 with its woozy blend of smarter-than-average synths and weirder-than-average samples. Then, last year, Vitalic confirmed himself a great with Flashmob, his second and finest long player to date: an album with a blistering, claustrophobically compressed production, beautifully brutal beats and madly addictive tunes, emotion, invention and melody, all delivered with a wink of its glittery disco eye. The Frenchman’s multilayered productions and sets get him gigs at places like matter, Bestival and Snowbombing and really are something fresher than most producers can ever offer.

His live show is a special one indeed… it’s a retina-scorching, brain-meltingly brilliant live performance which puts the man on a par with greats such as The Chemical Brothers, Daft Punk and Kraftwerk.

Weekly event Fade has secured a huge headline act for their party on March 20th …Gatecrasher has a reputation the world over as one of the foremost clubbing venues in the UK and it will no doubt come alive tonight with such excellent musical offerings, so don’t miss out! Polly and The Chosen Ones also play tonight and provide the sort of varied electronic beats you can’t help but get down to.
