Bipolar Sunshine announces brand new single ‘Daydreamer'(Stream)

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , on November 19, 2014 by J.D.

Bipolar Sunshine announces brand new single 'Daydreamer'Bipolar Sunshine will kick off 2015 with the release of a new single ‘Daydreamer’ released on 25th January followed by a UK headline tour in March and April.

Bipolar Sunshine is the Manchester raised alternative pop sound of Adio Marchant. With an eclectic new-age ambient soundscape and melancholy soulful lyrics, he conjures up the romance of escapism, drawing inspiration from life’s wonders and imperfections.

He has built an avid following through the release of two EPs and a collection of singles, most recently with ‘Deckchairs on the Moon’ and ‘Future (Part 1)’ ft. Goldlink, and with live shows, including support dates with the likes of A$AP Mob, London Grammar, Rudimental and Bastille, along with his own packed out headline shows and festival appearances.

New single ‘Daydreamer’ incorporates everything Bipolar Sunshine has become so known and so loved for. An atypical pop track, which blends both the despondent and the upbeat with intelligent and unique lyrics and a vast, all-encompassing chorus. The song is a collaboration with SBTRKT and was produced by Fraser T Smith (Adele, Lily Allen, Sam Smith)

Currently finishing work on his debut album, set to be released next summer, Bipolar Sunshine is heading out on his biggest UK headline tour to date in March and April next year. Deep Heads to release compilation ft. James Blake, SBTRKT, Sampha(Preview)

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on March 21, 2014 by J.D.

Deep Heads to release compilation ft. James Blake, SBTRKT, SamphaDeep Heads, a label famed for its continual championing of the most exciting music from the dubstep genre, is proud to announce the release of ‘Deep Heads Dubstep Vol. 1‘, a 2-disc compilation to be released on 21stApril.

Deep Heads Dubstep Vol. 1’ is set to cement the label’s reputation for showcasing dubstep music of the highest quality. Featuring a mixture of unforgettable classics and exclusive, unreleased tracks, this compilation will both satisfy the hungriest of dubstep diehards as well as offer the perfect introduction to the genre to those less familiar with the thriving UK scene.

The compilation is mixed by George Harris, aka Geode, who is hailed as one of dubstep’s most important new producers. Geode spent his early teens experimenting with drum and bass production and has now developed a unique take on the genre; an eclectic fusion of deep-seated bass lines with jazzy riffs. A founding member of the Chord Marauders collective, the mix perfectly demonstrates the young artist’s talents as a DJ.

The dubstep that Deep Heads are representing with this release is one inspired by the UK Bass driven scene, pulling heavily on influences from UK Garage, drum and bass, grime, dub, reggae and jazz – setting it apart from the ‘faux-dubstep’ of the club-oriented scene.

The compilation is unique in its equal representation of upcoming talent, such as CongiAudialist and Jafualongside some of the genre’s most famous names, which include James Blake, SBTRKT, Sampha, Synkro, Submotion Orchestra, Numbernin6 and Biome.

As well as the almighty compilation, the CD will include a download card for all tracks to be downloaded individually as an extra thank you to fans.

Posted in News with tags , on March 12, 2014 by J.D.

SBTRKT debuts Transitions“This is music written over the last year, whilst recording for my second album. Much of the music I released before my debut album was instrumental and I want to continue to share this side of the music I make. This series of tracks is titled TRANSITIONS. ” – SBTRKT

Since the release of his debut album in 2011, SBTRKT has cemented his role as one of the most acclaimed electronic artists and performers around. What began as praise in his hometown of London has now reached to every corner of the globe.

Today, SBTRKT launches ‘Transitions’, a collection of six instrumentals written and produced over the past year that reference the creative process that led to his debut album. Each track is available to hear at transitions.sbtrkt.com , a  beautiful and fully interactive website that has been designed by long term collaborator A Hidden Place (who is responsible for the design and manufacture of SBTRKT’s now trademark tribal mask) and PARTY, a renowned Japanese creative agency.

The Transitions series will be released through Young Turks on three individual 12″ records. Each one will feature artwork and 2D Moiré animation by A Hidden Place. The action of removing the inner bag from its sleeve creates a unique visual effect which is replicated digitally by moving the mouse on the Transitions website.

Loungery Day ‘When It Breaks’ ft. Artifact & Latcha remixes

Loungery_Day_When_It_Breaks_EP_artwork_web_smPointé Records present Loungery Day’s ‘When It Breaks’ EP, his second release for the label. Counting the likes of Artful Dodger,MJ ColeSBTRKTDark Sky and T.Williams as his influences, theMontreal based producer’s signing came about via meetings with the Pointé Records crew at DJ sets around Montreal and the famous Blizzarts venue.

‘Peace of Mind’ kicks off with swirling pads that soon make room for a shuffling garage rhythm, vocal stabs and an ever-present bassline. ‘Keep It Simple’ is an upfront track led by a recognisable vocal hook, over a grounded 4×4 rhythm.

Rising UK producer Artifact adds his distinct stylings to the remix of ‘Keep It Simple’, mangling the clean vocal lines under his hard hitting beats. Latcha takes things up a notch while French newcomer D.L:T.A. strips back the elements to make a clean, funky take on the original. Canadian producer KwikFikscompletes the package with his take on ‘Peace of Mind’, subduing the floating nature of the original and moving it into darker territory.

Music is always evolving and it’s interesting to capture the moment where you are allow to incorporate new styles. I remember when dubstep was a huge thing in Montreal, lots of producers and DJs were getting sick of it and so they tried new things. For some it fails because they were too iconic to the scene and fans felt betrayed, but for others it was a success. That’s how you recognize great artists, because they can adapt to their time.”Loungery Day

Taz & Akka 'Synergy EP'Release date: 1st April 2013
Format: 12” / Digital
Rwina Records kick off 2013 with the ‘Synergy’ EP, a collaborative release from Taz & Akka. Glasgow’s Taz makes his fourth appearance on the label, while Akka (aka label head and mastermind Akkachar) finally steps over to the artist side. The pair have been collaborating for three years, with this first release compiling four tracks from the extensive amount of material the two have accumulated in that time.
‘Illusory’ combines euphoric synths, a flair for hooks and hands in the air escapism. ‘Mobius’ takes its inspiration from video games, grime, cartoons and hip hop, throwing everything into a blender and pouring the results all over the dancefloor. ‘Paul Is Dead’ switches up the tempo for a deeper take on the footwork sound, with a vocal snippet name checking one of the most famous “Paul”s in history and ‘Trapped In ’82’ closes proceedings by taking things back to the duo’s youth, unashamedly celebrating the musical excesses of the 80s.
Rwina has a strong back catalogue from artists such as Starkey, EPROM, Terror Danjah, Swindle and support from DJ Shadow, SBTRKT, Flying Lotus, Diplo, Mary Anne Hobbs, Skream, Oneman, Ben UFO, Machinedrum and many more.

Stubborn Heart Announce US Release of Debut Full Length Album+free download

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , on January 15, 2013 by J.D.

TPLP1175_450Stubborn Heart – aka Luca Santucci & Ben Fitzgerald – set ears buzzing last year with a (then unidentified) white label 12” and followed it up earlier this summer with the ‘Need Someone’ EP (on Kaya Kaya records, an imprint of XL Recordings).  Now signed to One Little Indian, their full length eponymous debut, Stubborn Heart (out in the US on March 5th) reveals a stunning and surprisingly poignant electronic soul record.

Hailing from London & Oxford respectively, the duo’s debut emotes heartbreak over broken beats and dark, atmospheric space. The clean, ghostly production coalesces with Luca’s mournful vocal to positively ooze a bruised melancholy.

Click HERE to download the track, “Need Someone,” filled with stuttering, caffeinated beats and bell-like synth.

Equally inspired by 80’s and 90’s electronic music and 60’s and 70’s soul music (the album includes a cover of Reuben Bell & The Casanovas rare soul 45 It’s Not That Easy), Stubborn Heart never lose their passion for good pop music – everything from Hall & Oates to Timbaland. Recent comparisons have been drawn with the XX, Sbtrkt, James Blake & Four Tet.

Keep a look out for more from Stubborn Heart coming your way.
