The “Eve of Destruction” cover is a stand alone track and video that The Great Void will be releasing before their upcoming full length album, Shift Age (Sept 4th)

The Great Void
The Great Void is the brainchild of Brooklyn producer and electronic musician Josh Ascalon. His obsession with analog synthesizers began at age 14 when he started experimenting with their expansive sonic capabilities. Musically, this experimentation continues to be the driving force behind his unique brand of left-field electronic pop. Writing, recording and mixing his forthcoming debut album himself, he draws on themes of imagination, futurism, and the infinite possibilities of existence. Josh has been active in NYC’s music scene for many years and in 2010 he co-founded Rad Studio along with George Lewis Jr (Twin Shadow) and Damon Dorsey. He has worked on records by Neon Indian, Hooray for Earth, Das Racist, Chairlift, Twin Shadow, Acrylics, and Cities Aviv.

Shift Age is the debut album from producer and electronic musician Josh Ascalon, aka The Great Void. For the recording of Shift Age, Josh set specific creative parameters which banned the use of software-synths, plug-ins, and digital sequencing. Forsaking modern studio conveniences for a more hands-on and intensively crafted approach. Recording, producing and mixing the record himself, the album features contributions from like-minded musicians such as Alan Palomo (Neon Indian), Noel Heroux (Hooray for Earth), George Lewis Jr. (Twin Shadow) Morgan Whirledge (Chrome Canyon) and Joe Stickney (Bear in Heaven, Autre Ne Veut). On stage, The Great Void is joined by a full band, transforming his recordings into dynamic and high energy performances.
