Disney Classics Remixed by Avicii, Armin Van Buuren, Kaskade and more!DCONSTRUCTED
THE WORLD’S HOTTEST DJS/PRODUCERS REMIX DISNEY REPERTOIRE
SET FOR RELEASE ON APRIL 22, 2014

Walt Disney Records will release DCONSTRUCTED, a comprehensive compilation of classic and current music from the longstanding Disney catalog remixed by today’s hottest DJs/producers from across the globe. The 14-track collection features reworks of material from the multiple Academy Award®-winning films The Lion King and Frozen, as well as two of Daft Punk’s contributions to TRON: Legacy.

EDM superstars Avicii, Armin Van Buuren and Kaskade are among the electronic dance music luminaries that have lent their formidable skills to these timeless favorites. The reworked material ranges from more recent heartwarmers from Monsters University,The Incredibles, and The Muppets to beloved and lasting sounds from theHawaiiaanette album featuring the beloved Mickey Mouse Club darling, Annette Funicello, Toy StorySleeping BeautyDumbo, as well as music inspired by the original Mickey Mouse cartoons, and the enduring theme from the Disneyland Park’s Main Street Electrical Parade.

The blending of the orchestral world of Disney with the synthetic sounds of the electronic world brings out fresh flavors. The recognizable cries and roars of The Lion King’s “Circle Of Life” mix headily with Mat Zo’s growling basslines and razor-sharp synth stabs. Daft Punk’s abbreviated “Derezzed” is freshened up with vocals courtesy of Negin and extended with Avicii’s twinkling rhythms. Similarly, the previously unreleased Japanese Popstars Remix of Daft Punk’s “Fall” stretches out that track’s inquisitive beats with layers of echo. The newly minted Oscar® winner for Best Original Song “Let It Go,” is transformed to a peak-of-the-night banger with Armin Van Buuren’s tranced out take on Idina Menzel’s sparkling vocals.

Says Van Buuren, “I feel incredibly honored to have remixed an Oscar-winning song—though I didn’t know that yet when I started.”

“My first remix of Daft Punk’s TRON:Legacy was so long ago, but it was a significant moment of recognition in my career,” says Avicii. “It’s great to be a part of it again, to refresh the track, and to let everyone hear Negin’s voice.”

Yoann Feynman and Monomotion work together to push themselves beyond their very limits; to ensure each detail is significant and where beats and precision come together as one to break through musical borders.
Bringing new skills to the game, they put together the first pieces of their master plan in the creation of their own imprint FAKE MUSIC, to keep a sharp eye on every detail of the project.

“I started this one a few days after the release of their album. My best friend, Erol aka Monomotion was in the coma at that time so I wasn’t in the mood to finish anything. We came back on it together when he woke up, and now share it with you guys. Much Love

Boys Noize – FABRICLIVE 72

Boys Noize Announces FABRICLIVE 72: Boys Noize on Fabric Records
Out 11/18 (digital) and 11/26 (CD)
Pre-Order: HERE
Boys Noize Starts His American Tour October 17th in Denver (details below)

Boys Noize (Alex Ridha) is amongst an elite group of highly respected DJ/Producers to have earned legendary status. Whether producing monster tracks such as “Starwin”, playing to thousands of people around the world, remixing for the likes of David Lynch, Depeche Mode and Daft Punk, working with artists as varied as Skrillex, Snoop Dogg, Santigold and Chilly Gonzales, or as label boss of his own Boysnoize Records, it’s fair to say Boys Noize has never been in more demand or on better form than currently: now iced with the proverbial cherry by being next in line to mix the legendary FABRICLIVEseries. Working two jobs just to buy turntables and satisfy his insatiable appetite for buying house, disco and hip hop records from the age of 14 years old, Hamburg-born Alex Ridha played his first ever gig at the age of 16 and from there – by his own admittance – “everything went pretty crazy.” Happy to just make back the money he’d spent on vinyl, before long his productions were supported by the likes of 2manydjs, Erol Alkan and Laurent Garnier, releasing on Kitsune and Turbo before exclusively releasing on his own label (with Cocoon and Phantasy the only recent exceptions). Renowned as a fast-paced, party DJ, Boys Noize does not disappoint on his FABRICLIVE mix.

“Around 2006-2007 I played together with Justice & crew in Room 2 and I was very excited, because it was really a dream come true to play London’s famous fabric. I remember it was super dark: smoke, sweat and lasers and people everywhere. I thought the club was so massive. I had no orientation, I didn’t know where the exit was or anything.”- Boys Noize

FABRICLIVE 72 is a frenetic, fast-paced representation of a typical Boys Noize set, condensed into 70 pulsating, sweaty minutes. Not simply a melting pot of the newest tracks, but an education in crazy techno and hi-energy jackin’ house, it switches up between Boysnoize Records releases – Tracques ‘Motor’ – to Gesaffelstein’s ‘Aufstand’ and Four Tet’s ‘For These Times’ with timeless ease. Its upbeat, happy attitude is clearly in full swing with Ridha focusing on melody for the home listener. Featuring a demo version of new track ‘Anoid’ (a gnarly, industrial slice sewn bang into the middle of the mix), his collab with Skrillex under the Dog Blood moniker (the breakbeat-powered ‘Chella Ride’), and new edits of underground tracks by Aden, DJ Deeon and Anthony Naples, Boys Noize proves time and time again that he is a man fully in control of his craft.bn_londonfabric_2

“I really tried to sum up my two to three hour set in 70 minutes. My sets usually include many styles and at some points I mix pretty fast too. I play some jackin’ house and techno with crazy energy stuff and then go back to reduced dub or even classic electro or breaks. Mygoal was to combine all of the styles I play but also make it listenable. All in all I think this DJ mix is pretty timeless, colourful and happy.” – Boys Noize

Roots Manuva – Witness (Benji Boko’s Blues Cut)

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , on September 25, 2013 by J.D.

Benji Boko - Remixes Vol.2Beat maker Benji Boko is releasing his eagerly anticipated album, ‘Remixes Vol. 2” this October.

Not to be regarded as just a ‘DJ’, Benji Boko displays a unique talent, describing his show as “completely improvised, off the cuff, live remixing.” His live set-up resembles something from the flight deck of the Star Ship Enterprise; in which he has the ability to re-ignite any tune, taking his audience with him, into new dimensions.

‘Remixes Vol.2’ is an energetic piece of work, drawing from influences across the board. The album opens with a remix of one of his favourite hip hop tracks of all time – Jay-Z’s ‘99 Problems.’ Boko twists the track into an infectious club banger infused with a deep blues vibe which hints at the music he was bought up on. The album then continues into a re-edited remix of Little Dragon’s ‘Little Man’ which sees Benji collaborating with elusive producer Boy In a Movie. Following on to feature remixes of Roots Manuva, Daft Punk and Lazy Habits, the album ultimately climaxes with his explosive remix of Missy Elliot’s classic, ‘Lick Shots.’ A slick album exploring everything from blues, soul, hip hop to funk, the collective piece is sure to keep you glued to the dancefloor.

Things started getting out of control for Benji Boko back in 2010 when he guided 17,000 revelers into the New Year at the London O2 Arena, alongside Deadmau5, Justice and Calvin Harris. Since then, things have continued to escalate – his debut album “Beats, Treats & All Things Unique”, was released worldwide via Brighton based label Tru Thoughts and included collaborations with Maxi Jazz (Faithless) and Ricky Rankin (Roots Manuva).

Daft Punk collaborator Romanthony dies aged 46

Posted in News with tags , , on May 20, 2013 by J.D.

romanthonyAs Daft Punk release their new album Random Access Memories, tributes are pouring in for their former collaborator Romanthony, who has died.

The singer provided vocals to their 2001 hit One More Time, which, up until current smash Get Lucky, was the French duo’s biggest hit. Romanthony, real name Anthony Moore, actually passed away on 7 May, but the news has only just filtered through to his contemporaries in the music world. His sister Mellony Moore has posted on Facebook, “Thank you for all your calls and prayers my brother was a musical genius.” Moore had died at his home in Austin, Texas, although the cause of death has not been officially confirmed. He was 46.

DJ Pete Tong tweeted: “Sad news RIP Romanthony.” German producer Boys Noize also posted a tribute: “It is so sad 😦 Romanthony and me were working on such an amazing song together. He said it was the best song he had ever written.

Before shooting to global acclaim with Daft Punk, Romanthony was already a cult figure in the house music world, releasing his debut album Romanworld in 1997. As well as One More Time, his vocal featured another track from the Discovery album, Too Long. Speaking at the time of their hit in 2001, Daft Punk’s Guy Manuel de Homem-Christo said: “We met him at the 1996 Winter Music Conference and became friends. What’s odd is that Romanthony and Todd Edwards are not big in the United States at all. Their music had a big effect on us. The sound of their productions – the compression, the sound of the kick-drum and Romanthony’s voice, the emotional soul – is part of how we sound today. Because they mean something to us, it was much more important for us to work with them than with other big stars.”

In happier news, Daft Punk’s own comeback continues to go from strength to strength. On 19 May, Get Lucky held the No 1 spot for a fourth consecutive week, and Random Access Memories, out today, is predicted to become the fastest-selling album in UK chart history.(via Guardian)

PHOTEK drops new album KU:PALM on Oct 23+Free Download

PHOTEK RELEASES BRAND NEW ALBUM ‘KU:PALM’ ON OCTOBER 23, 2012

– Photek’s first artist album in over a decade

– Album Tour to commence January 2013

– GRAMMY nominated in 2012 for his TRON soundtrack remix of Daft Punk

Hot off his Grammy nomination for the Daft Punk remix on the Tron soundtrack, legendary drum and bass pioneer, PHOTEK, drops his new album KU:PALM on October 23, 2012, his first album in over a decade. After a brief time out, PHOTEK signaled he was back in the studio at the start of 2011 with the Avalanche EP –  his first dancefloor-focused release for a number of years. PHOTEK has since gone on to deliver the Aviator EP, a much-hyped DJ-Kicks release for !K7 and now… Now is the time for the artist’s full album. Now is the time for KU:PALM.

“As the album started to take shape it felt like it was sitting halfway between Modus Operandi and Solaris – which I felt was a good place to be. Now it’s finished, it might well be my favourite album to date.”With ‘Modus Operandi’ and ‘Solaris’ both regarded as seminal releases of their time – the word ‘classic’ is  is no  over-statement – this is the message from a producer who has been there and done it all, and is feeling more inspired than ever.

Over the past 20-years Photek, has been on a sonic-journey that has seen him explore all corners of electronic music. Often surprising, always original, it was in 1995 that he released his first Photek release – the still-amazing ‘Natural Born Killa’ EP for Goldie’s Metalheadz. It was a release that transcended the sound of drum’n’bass at the time and his deeper, more intricate take on D’n’B/Jungle went on to form a whole new sub-genre for the scene. Fast-forward to 2012 and he’s just as well-known for his ambient works, cinematic scores from Pirates of the Caribean and The Italian Job, and love of house music. It’s this open-minded approach to sound that has revived so much of his passion for the dancefloor.

Photek  has  drawn  inspiration  from  both  the  old  and  new  on  KU:PALM,  delivering  an  album  that  is  defined  by  new ideas and superior sonics – not genre classification. He explains, “This album had to be the right listening experience for the headphone listeners as much as on a club soundsystem.”

Varying in tempos and ranging in influence, recent tracks such as ‘Aviator’, ‘Sleepwalking’ and ‘This Love’ (with vocals by Ray La Montagne) all feature, sitting alongside a variety of brand new material.

First Ever Live Show on October 6th in Berlin

Boys Noize at LA’s HARD Festival 8/3 + NYC’s Electric Zoo Festival 9/2

Boys Noize announces his third album Out Of The Black to be released on October 2ndworldwide via his own label Boysnoize Records. The first rousing track from the album called “What You Want”

Alex Ridha – aka Boys Noize – is a Berlin-based producer, DJ and label owner who started producing and DJing at a very early age and is known internationally as a one of the most valued electronic artists (Independent Music Award in 2010 and 3 consecutive times Best Electronic Artist on Beatport).

The new album perfectly bridges the gap between his previous two efforts Oi Oi Oi andPOWER; providing the requisite in-your-face electro bang of classic Boys Noize on tracks like “What You Want”, “Rocky 2” and “XTC”, or more melodic songs like “Ich R U“ and “Reality“. At a time when mainstream electronic music, particularly the pervasive cultures of EDM and dubstep, have moved dance music out of the clubs and into the stadiums, Ridha is quick to acknowledge the old school house and acid records that shaped him as a DJ; the very same records that continue to bubble up as an influence on Out Of The Black.

Boys Noize is proud to bring a full live show to the stage for the first time on October 6th in Berlin, at the start of an extensive 25-city European live tour (dates below + more to be announced soon).

Alex Ridha is at the heart of Boysnoize Records and BNR Trax that involves a roster of over 100 releases by more than a dozen different artists (Spank Rock, The Faint, Mixhell, Strip Steve, Le1f, Housemeister and17-year old SCNTST etc). Along releasing two long players Oi Oi Oi and POWER with contemporary anthems “&Down,” “Don’t Believe The Hype” and “Jeffer” he’s had numerous releases with Mr. Oizo (aka Handbraekes), Erol Alkan, Jarvis Cocker and more.

Boys Noize has been on the forefront of remixing indie artists like Feist’s “My Moon, My Man,” long before it was a custom to remix non-dance tracks. Other remixes range from the likes of David LynchN.E.R.D, Depeche ModeSnoop DoggDaft Punk, The Chemical Brothers to name a few. Having worked with Scissor Sisters, Gonzales,Spank RockSantigold and Kelis, the highly sought after producer, is ready to show the world his best work to date.
