Watch Tinie Tempah In The New Video For ‘Tsunami (Jump)’

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on January 24, 2014 by J.D.

Tsunami 042013 has seen 3 No.1 singles for Ministry of Sound, with hits coming from Bingo Players, Duke Dumont and Storm Queen. With 2014 in its sights, the world’s most successful dance label is gearing up for its next crossover hit with DVBBS & Borgeous’s ‘Tsunami (Jump)’, with a new vocal from Brit superstar, Tinie Tempah, following his previous featured hits with Swedish House Mafia and Calvin Harris.

The epic performance video was directed by Fred Rowson, who commented:
From the moment I heard this track with Tinie’s vocal, I knew that the video would have to be visceral, distinctive, and have real swagger. I wanted it to be iconic, with an industrial, almost gothic aesthetic that we’ve created through the colour scheme and the physical installation that we built. The choreography is central to the way the video develops, and I took Rick Guest’s Royal Ballet photography as a reference point for how we’d portray this. We’ve edited the performances so they build in intensity to really capture the tone of the music“.

The instrumental of ‘Tsunami (Jump)’ has already hit No.1 across Europe and on Beatport, clocked up 60 million collective YouTube views, over800,000 Soundcloud plays, and received repeat UK radio support from Radio 1’s Zane Lowe (who has just premiered the vocal version on Radio 1), Pete Tong, Diplo, Danny Howard, Greg James, Diplo and Annie Nightingale, plus spins from Mistajam at 1Xtra. To date, the track has spent 14 weeks in the Shazam Top 200 chart, peaking at No.13 in the Top 20 pre release chart.

DVBBS are Canadian brothers, Alex and Chris. The duo’s early singles ‘Initio’ and ‘DRVGS’, have taken the global EDM community by storm, and with shows alongside Deadmau5, Calvin Harris, Rusko, Eric Prydz, Dada Life, Borgore and Steve Aoki, they’re rapidly becoming one of North America’s hottest live DJ tickets.

LA’s Borgeous is another producer riding the crest of EDM’s next wave. His original productions ‘From Cali WIth Love’, ‘GANGSTEROUS’, ‘Rags To Riches’ and ‘Aggro’, alongside remixes of Rihanna’s ‘Pour It Up’ (with The Cataracs) and his reworking of Ciara’s ‘Goodies’, have brought him much acclaim in 2013.

The inimitable Tinie Tempah has just dropped his second album, ‘Demonstration’, featuring collaborations with Diplo, Pharrell, Zane Lowe, Paloma Faith, Labrinth, Naughty Boy, Dizzee Rascal, 2 Chainz, Emeli Sandé, Ellie Goulding and the Chemical Brothers’ Tom Rowlands.

Following the success of Showtek’s ‘Booyah’ and Martin Garrix’ recent No.1, ‘Animals’, ‘Tsunami (Jump)’ is the next harder-edged EDM anthem to cut through in an ever-shifting dance music landscape.

Voyeur – Blame It On The Youth EP(Stream)

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on October 31, 2012 by J.D.

Leeds based duo Voyeur spent early 2012 carving their name on the remix circuit, with reworks for Bombay Bicycle Club and Santigold gaining tastemaker support from the likes of Zane Lowe, Annie Mac, Pete Tong, Rob da Bank, Dummy and XLR8R.

Their first original output, due on 26th November via Kerri Chandler’s new MadTech imprint, is the sultry ‘Blame It On The Youth’, an 8-minute lo-slung epic. Perfect listening for the impending autumnal evenings, it fuses jazz chords and emotive vocal yelps with a genuine sonic weight, showcasing somewhat of a detachment from their previous Balearic offerings.

On the flipside comes an edit from Kerri Chandler himself, who, upon hearing the track, insisted on adding his own interpretation to the package. Retaining much of the original, Kerri displays a new side to his productions and creates a dance-floor ready cut that will surely become a staple in his future sets. The tribal bounce of ‘Get Up’ completes the digital bundle.

Having already supported Disclosure at their London EP launch and appeared at Dimensions and Gottwood festivals over the summer, Voyeur will support Submotion Orchestra this month, before playing their own EP launch party at The Nest in London on 10th November, featuring a special line-up curated by themselves which will be announced over the coming weeks. Following this, the duo will appear on the seminal Boiler Room on 22nd November.

Karin Park – Thousand Loaded Guns (Nocturnal Sunshine remix by Maya Jane Coles)(Stream)

UK house golden girl Maya Jane Coles dusts off her Nocturnal Sunshine alias for a remix of Karin Park’s new single Thousand Loaded Guns, released 10 September on State Of Eye Recordings.

Karin Park shook up the underground in 2011 with the release of her critically acclaimed EP ‘Tiger Dreams’. Reigniting Sweden’s electronic scene with her own injection of dark, synth driven goth-pop, Karin is regarded as Scandinavia’s hottest new export.

With a Norwegian Grammy already securely in her clutches and a growing army of fans and fellow musicians and DJ’s supporting her every step, Karin has earned her status as an awe-inspiring live artist having caused a flurry of excitement with recent performances across Europe supporting dance floor royalty Azari & III and SBTRKT while bathing festival goers at Lovebox and The Great Escape in her brooding electronic beats and signature spell-binding vocal.

Karin’s next single, ‘Thousand Loaded Guns’ mixes slick, ultra-modern production with staccato synths that ooze retro vibes; Karin breaths her velvety vocal  across the melting bass line sweeping the track skyward. The track has received incredible early support from R1’s Nick Grimshaw and R2’s Jo Whiley, while the ever-growing plethora of championing DJ’s includes Zane Lowe, Annie Mac, Pete Tong, Rob De Bank and Giles Peterson.

The Scouse Rockers ‘Sound of Guns,’are set to release their brand new single ‘Antarctica.’ on 25th June 2012

Following their sold out headline performance at Liverpool’s O2 Academy to over 1,200 people, Sound Of Guns announce new single ‘Antarctica’ through Distiller Records. Taken from new album ‘Angels & Enemies’, the single was produced by Dave Eringa (Manic Street Preachers, Ocean Colour Scene) at The Distillery in Bath.

‘Antarctica’ has been selected as the leading song to Sky Sport’s 2012 Champions League coverage. A powerful rock anthem, which mirrors the excitement and passion of the beautiful game. The B-Side includes a cover of ‘Killing Moon’ by Echo and The Bunnymen, a track which many will recognise from the Donnie Darko soundtrack.
