Watch Tinie Tempah In The New Video For ‘Tsunami (Jump)’

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on January 24, 2014 by J.D.

Tsunami 042013 has seen 3 No.1 singles for Ministry of Sound, with hits coming from Bingo Players, Duke Dumont and Storm Queen. With 2014 in its sights, the world’s most successful dance label is gearing up for its next crossover hit with DVBBS & Borgeous’s ‘Tsunami (Jump)’, with a new vocal from Brit superstar, Tinie Tempah, following his previous featured hits with Swedish House Mafia and Calvin Harris.

The epic performance video was directed by Fred Rowson, who commented:
From the moment I heard this track with Tinie’s vocal, I knew that the video would have to be visceral, distinctive, and have real swagger. I wanted it to be iconic, with an industrial, almost gothic aesthetic that we’ve created through the colour scheme and the physical installation that we built. The choreography is central to the way the video develops, and I took Rick Guest’s Royal Ballet photography as a reference point for how we’d portray this. We’ve edited the performances so they build in intensity to really capture the tone of the music“.

The instrumental of ‘Tsunami (Jump)’ has already hit No.1 across Europe and on Beatport, clocked up 60 million collective YouTube views, over800,000 Soundcloud plays, and received repeat UK radio support from Radio 1’s Zane Lowe (who has just premiered the vocal version on Radio 1), Pete Tong, Diplo, Danny Howard, Greg James, Diplo and Annie Nightingale, plus spins from Mistajam at 1Xtra. To date, the track has spent 14 weeks in the Shazam Top 200 chart, peaking at No.13 in the Top 20 pre release chart.

DVBBS are Canadian brothers, Alex and Chris. The duo’s early singles ‘Initio’ and ‘DRVGS’, have taken the global EDM community by storm, and with shows alongside Deadmau5, Calvin Harris, Rusko, Eric Prydz, Dada Life, Borgore and Steve Aoki, they’re rapidly becoming one of North America’s hottest live DJ tickets.

LA’s Borgeous is another producer riding the crest of EDM’s next wave. His original productions ‘From Cali WIth Love’, ‘GANGSTEROUS’, ‘Rags To Riches’ and ‘Aggro’, alongside remixes of Rihanna’s ‘Pour It Up’ (with The Cataracs) and his reworking of Ciara’s ‘Goodies’, have brought him much acclaim in 2013.

The inimitable Tinie Tempah has just dropped his second album, ‘Demonstration’, featuring collaborations with Diplo, Pharrell, Zane Lowe, Paloma Faith, Labrinth, Naughty Boy, Dizzee Rascal, 2 Chainz, Emeli Sandé, Ellie Goulding and the Chemical Brothers’ Tom Rowlands.

Following the success of Showtek’s ‘Booyah’ and Martin Garrix’ recent No.1, ‘Animals’, ‘Tsunami (Jump)’ is the next harder-edged EDM anthem to cut through in an ever-shifting dance music landscape.

Good Voodoo Society – So Much More (The Mixes) (Good Voodoo Music, GVM001) (Preview Clips)

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on September 12, 2011 by J.D.

Good Voodoo Music – a new label from a diverse collective with an emphasis on proper musicianship. Good Voodoo has a passion for all things deep and soulful, but draws from influences way beyond the dance music sphere, so expect every release to be a lush blend of different global flavours.

The in-house musicians, Good Voodoo Society, spearhead the inaugural release on the A-Side with their summery and vocal interpretation of So Much More.

Then Adam Shaw does his thing with a remix and a dub. Already earmarked as one to watch and destined for greatness by none other than the Grammy nominated boss of Toolroom Records, Mark Knight, Adam Shaw is a rising star of the house music world having released on Toolroom Records, New State Music and Mau5trap to name but a few. He has also remixed the likes of Deadmau5 and Kris Menace.

Off The Cuff’s mix sees them team up with saxophonist John McGough, who has previously played live with Carl Cox. Off The Cuff have previously released on Lost My Dog, Defected In The House, and Sidetrak among others.

Good Voodoo leader Dominic Nelson-Ashley takes a bow with his Tribal Vybes remix. His illustrious music career has seen him regularly creating new dance music that blends organic African and Latin rhythms and instrumentation with electronic music in places as diverse as Freetown, Sao Paulo, Havana, New York, Buenos Aires and Sydney.

His music and productions have been heard on Universal Records, Pleasure Republique, Megablock records, Big Dada/Ninja Tune, Sky TV, BBC Radio, and Channel 4.

The remainder of the release showcases two guys with over 40 years of experience of the scene between them, DJ Liam Dunning and Born 2 Groove (Karl Goodison).

Caspa returns with Fulham 2 Waterloo, August 1st ,Dub Police 50(Preview)+Tour Dates

CASPA
SINGLE: FULHAM 2 WATERLOO
RELEASE DATE: 1 AUGUST
LABEL: DUB POLICE
CAT NO: DP050

Having passed the landmark half century in releases for Dub Police it’s time to celebrate and what better way to do so then to hand the reigns over to label head Caspa for the big 50!

Following the release of the anthemic ‘Back For The First Time’ last summer on Sub Soldiers – which was vocalled by Mr Hudson as ‘Love Never Dies’ and the brutal ‘Neck Snappah’ earlier this year, Caspa returns with the huge ‘Fulham 2 Waterloo’.

Driven by a hard 4×4 kick and galloping snares, the rhythm is overlaid with the snap of the half step snare providing an impactful percussive counterpoint that flips between house and dubstep. With the tough dancefloor foundations laid, it is the sharp, rave-inflected lead hook that provides an addictive rallying cry for club audiences everywhere.

Having first been aired by Annie Mac on Radio 1 back in February, it has been getting heavy club support from Atrak, Breakage, Mista Jam, Annie Mac, Zinc and Emalkay to name a few and with forthcoming rubdowns from Roska and Emalkay Fulham 2 Waterloo is set to storm the summer soundsystem airwaves.

As the man behind Dub Police and affiliated labels Storming Productions and Sub Soldiers, and an irrefutably top class producer in his own right, Caspa’s influence on the scene is profound. His continuing musical evolution and willingness to champion new talent has marked him out as an international

Fulham 2 Waterloo

Bang Bang

ambassador for dubstep as he continues to spread some of the most exciting sounds to come out of the UK in years.

Fresh back from Coachella Caspa now hits the road with an epic list of heavyweight forthcoming tour dates including Glastonbury where he will provide another outing of his’ Dubs, Decks and Visual FX’ multi sensory assault, followed onwards by Global Gathering and Creamfields amongst a massive run of forthcoming festivals and worldwide shows that take him to every corner of the globe, not to mention a 14 date tour throughout the USA in August which will be hitting some major venues alongside Digitalism.

Touring is just the tip of the Iceberg, Caspa still finds time to host a bi-monthly night at the world famous Fabric and not content with running 3 labels, producing dancefloor bomb after dancefloor bomb and the acclaimed album ‘Everybody’s Talking, Nobody’s Listening’, his remix skills are in higher demand than ever, remixing for the likes of Katy B, Buraka Som Sistema, Deadmau5, Miike Snow, Swedish House Mafia, Depeche Mode, Kid Sister to name just a few.

Caspa is working with a host of exciting guest vocalists and collaborators on his forthcoming artist album with full details to be revealed in the not too distant future- stay up-to-date with everything Caspa related with the new official Caspa iPhone application featuring news, music, videos, gig details, photos and much, much more! Nervous Records Presents…Sydney Blu – “Live From Mansion”+free download

Live From Mansion
Nervous Records
June 7, 2011

On June 7, Nervous Records presents the debut CD from rising DJ/Producer/Remixer Sydney Blu. Titled, Live From Mansion, this release showcases Sydney’s DJ skills and ability to work a big club, but also leans heavily on her talents behind the boards as a producer and remixer. In fact, the compilation contains nearly 80% of Sydney’s own original productions and remixes.

Download Want Sombody – Sydney Blu & Christian Falero (Original Cover Mix )

A native of Thunder Bay, Canada, Sydney Blu went to school for audio engineering in Toronto where she spent countless hours learning the craft from studio engineers. After teaching herself Ableton Live and spending a lot of time with her producer friends like Trent Cantrelle, Christian Falero, Funkagenda, & Joel Zimmerman (AKA Deadmau5), she has completely dove into producing her own music.

Following the success of her releases (including the chart-topping ‘Give It Up For Me’ on Mau5trap Recordings being one of Beatport’s highest selling songs and making Sydney the only female electronic producer to ever have a top 10 hit on the website), Sydney Blu developed and founded her own record label Blu Music, which has produced several chart-topping singles over the past year, with her remixes of the True Blood theme ‘Bad Blood’ and a re-edit of Jefferson Airplane titled ‘Want Somebody’ topping the charts for weeks. All of Sydney’s releases received consistent support from global heavyweights such as Tiesto, Paul Van Dyk, Deadmau5, Roger Sanchez, Paul Oakenfold, Funkagenda, Robbie Rivera, Chuckie, Oscar G & more.

After moving to Miami in the spring of 2010, Sydney quickly set-up her residency with Opium Group and Mansion Miami – the hottest club on South Beach. In just one year Sydney’s local profile raised tremendously and culminated with her own sold out Miami Music Week 2011 “Blu Party” featuring John Dahlback, Thomas Gold, Tommy Lee and Aero feat SOFI live, Kim Fai, Trent Cantrelle, Christian Falero & Manufactured Superstars. Watch the recap

Her new home in Miami provides the backdrop for a truly exciting moment in Sydney’s career – her first artist CD – Live From Mansion. While the mix was recorded live over the course of one evening at Mansion, the project took nearly a year to complete. That’s because Sydney wanted to create a CD that was leaned heavily on her own brand new original tracks and remixes. “Its 80% my own music and it feels SO good to be finally releasing it all. Remixes, Collaborations and Original work – it’s all there. The album is representative of me as a producer, a DJ, and my signature sound all in one,” Sydney says.

2011 is already proving to be busy with original tracks and remixes set for release on Spinnin Records, Vicious Records, Funkfarm Records and Juicy Records, all leading up to the release of ‘Sydney Blu: Live at Mansion’. Catch Sydney on the road throughout the summer!

Sydney Blu – Live From Mansion is released June 7, 2011 on Nervous records.
